  1. I have the FX armor with an ATA bucket. I've made the modifications for 501st approval but I would love to have more accurate armor. If the FX armor can be approved, I don't see why this wouldn't it it stays true to the photos. I'm very tempted to place an order. Or save my money and put it towards an Epidoe 7 armor. Although that will be a lot more expensive.

  2. That would be fantastic!!! :) What would be even cooler is if your bro could get video of the cylinders, circling the parts from above, eye level & below, like in this diagram that I made for someone else who was going but didn't make it in the end. He'd go down in Star Wars history & people would sing songs abou this awesomeness if he managed this!

By brother's is going to this exhibit on Sept. 15 (the day before it ends). I'll have him document as much as he can.

  3. I have treckfreek's armour. It is a recast of the FX armor. Cancel your order if you can. If it's too late to cancel, you will get the armor. It took 5 or 6 weeks to get mine. The quality of the plastic is good but there is a lot more accurate stuff out there. It comes with the big bobble head helmet. I bought the ATA helmet to replace it and haven't even assembled the FX helmet yet. I assembled it to 501st standards eventhough I haven't submitted for approval yet. I bought from trekfreak based on a friends recommendation. I wish I found this site ahead of time. I still like my armor. It's just outdated.

  4. I see in the background of one of the pics a mouse droid please say you got some shots of the cylinders :icon_beg:

Where there any other props like the Macrobinoculars used by Luke in Star Wars, if so would you have got some shots of those :icon_beg:

I'm in the process of putting an album together of the entire exhibit. I do have a picture of the mouse droid but it's not close enough to make out any detail. The binoculars were not there.

My brother will be going to the exhibit at some time. After looking at all my photos, I noticed there is a lot I didn't get so I'm making him a list of photos to take. I will add the mouse droid to the list.

  5. I'm having a very hard time trimming the ears! This is not easy! Thought I over trimmed the back of the right ear....

Can get it to sit flush... like this

but the front won't sit flush then.... and similarly if the front sits flush the back has a wide gap....

Help! Not sure where to go from here, I'm afraid I'll trim off too much! Does the back look too thin yet?

It's a good thing 2 sets of ears are supplied with the ATA Helmet as I screwed one up. In the end I got the left ear to sit flush but couldn't get the right to sit flush so I notched the top of the ear so that the back was thinner than the front. It made me feel better when I later noticed they did this on some of the real helmets.

  6. You're wrong.

The middle helmet is actually an ESB MKII which is different from regular ESB helmets made from khaki PP. These are made from ABS and are similar to the ROTJ, but these were made specially for ESB and only one helmet was seen on screen.

The way you have listed them should be the other way around - second helmet is an ROTJ and the third is an ESB :)

    Fixed my labeling. Thanks TM!

  7. For my birthday, my wonderful girlfriend took me to the Star Wars Identities Exhibition in Montreal this weekend. I thought I’d share the good reference photos I took of the Stormtrooper and Helmets from the 3 movies on display. Missing on the display were the holster, neck seal and TD canister. The armor was in decent condition but not nearly as clean as it looks in the photos.

For anyone close to Montreal, I highly recommend going. I had my doubts about how much stuff would be on display and it far surpassed my expectations. They had so many costumes on mannequins, concept art and maquettes and space ship models The exposition incorporated education on how we develop our identities and related that to the contributing factors that shaped the star wars characters’ identities. You could also create your our Star Wars character along the way.

  8. Great forum! I wish I found it before I bought my FX kit. I'm close it to 501st standards. I have a new ATA helmet on its way to replace the bobble head helmet. I wish I found this forum earlier. It would have saved me the cost of a new helmet and I would have gotten more accurate armor. Oh well, it'll look good in the end since I'm a perfectionist. I've been assembling it little by little for months. It's been hard to get it to look good as I'm only 5'-5". I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of "aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper" comments. Looking forward to Fan Expo in Toronto this year.
