  1. Hello all,

In my attempt in at making a scratchbuilt E-11, I am having some difficulty in finding the best thickness of sheet metal for it.

At first, I tried the thinnest sheet from Home Depot (forgot the gauge, sorry). Didn't work. At the slightest pinch, it would start to bend. Does anyone have any good ideas for the best sheet metal thickness?

    Thanks in advance.

    Nate

  2. welcome to the FISD where every stormtrooper earns his skills and friends!

Thanks! I hope to earn a lot of skills here!

Welcome to FISD, Nate, and fellow Californian! Since it takes a while to order and receive the fluffy white box, enjoy your vacation now while it lasts. :)

This is entirely my opinion and I'm sure other more serious and more expert guys will chime in one way or the other:

If your goal is to save some money, it still might be worth it to get AM armor and definitely build with "screen accurate upgrades" in mind, but choose a bucket that is already more accurate, as those cost a pretty penny to get a new one.

If your decision to start "entry level" is a fear of the build itself, slap yourself a few times, dunk your head in the toilet, put ice in your shirt, get that idea out of your head, and go for what you really dream of wearing.

Cheers! Hope to run into you in your TK some day!

I understand your opinion, and thank you. I have no concerns with building the kit. I just don't have the funds for an AP kit, which is what I dreamed of. The AM is good enough for now.

    Thanks All!

    Nate

  3. Hello All,

I am Nate. I've been browsing around the FISD for expert tips on assembly of a TK suit (doin' my research). I want to start at an entry level suit, and eventually move up to a more screen-accurate one.

I'm thinking on going with an AM suit with a modified EFX bucket. I was hoping to start right now (Spring Break just started), but I got to go on vacation with my family.

Hope to have lots of fun! You guys seem really nice.

    Cheers!

    Nate
