Armor: AM lite (no helmet)
Helmet: RT-MOD
Belt: TKittell
Neck seal: Darman
Shoes: TK shoes
Special thanks to - LadyInWhite for answering my mass PMs.
Tools used:
Glue - CA glue / E6000
Power tools - Drill / Dremel (awesome for sanding and cutting)
Sanding bars from Home Depot
Snaps
Hammer
Two sets of 22 bundle clamps
Vinyl siding for butt joint backing (bonded really well with ABS and very stiff)
Ruler and Tsquare
Exacto blade
Here is the results - keep in mind that in these pictures was the first fitting - the butt was cut down and trimmed to get rid of dipper but and my shoulders were reversed (wrong sides).
I'm also missing the O2 Cannister and holster - both pending.
The belt harness didn't work well for me - I am going to switch to hockey suspenders

I was working on fitting the thighs and shins today and ran into a bit of a snag.
The shins keep riding up on the boots to the point where they come up over the top of the boot. Does anyone know of a solution for that to stop happening? Also what is the standard for how high on the knee they should be? I want to be sure before I begin cutting.
On the thighs it looks like a lot (almost 3 to 4 inches) needs to be cut off the top, but before I do I wanted to make sure I am measuring correctly. Where should the top of the thigh go to and how far down on the knee should it go?
Thanks.
I know that what the thighs look like - but once you taper the back and take them in and realize where your bet / cod piece is at it will make more sense. I'm 6'2 and did not have to trim at all - even though I thought I would have to take an inch off. Fit it with the cod piece and taper - then decide - how tall are you?

Can you post pictures so we can see what you have so far? We can help a little better if we can see it. Did you use e6000 for glue? You can take that stuff apart without messing up your armor.
I will put up pictures in the ESB build section

FYI:
Don't make the mistake I made on the arms with the joining strap (see above pictures). On the inside of the forearms, make sure the ridge between the two parts is the same width as your joining strip (more visually appealing) then make your size adjustments on the other side. I'm going to redo mine at some point.
I got the AM and did the overlap on the biceps and forearms - which means that I need to redo them / reorder (or shimmm) since they are already cut...
The butt joint vs overlap wasn't really explained to me right away and by the time I did more research my two parts were already cured so we'll see.
BTW is the kidney plate supposed to flare up or down ? I would think down
-
Apparently I am too skinny or not 'large' enough to be a trooper lol - either I take about an inch off the butt plate (on top) or I will have to take an inch off on the bottom of the kidney plate...
also I have a question in regards to the kidney - is there an easy way to tell which way is UP?
should the side 'flare' point towards the bottom or towards the top?
-
thanks that actually helps me a lot!!!!
-
is there supposed to be a gap between the ab plate and the back kidney plate on the sides?
also
is the kidney plate supposed to be higger than the ab plate?

thanks for the pictures as you are building, I was stuck at few places and now I am able to proceed
why did you decide on the loop (brackets) vs snap on the back pieces?
-
so before I realized you can cut away the 'overlap' i already glued biceps and forearms on each side (leaving one open)
what are my options now?
do I take it apart cut the overlap or leave the one side on each piece glued and do the butt joint on the open side?

Details here--------------
saw that but they had overlap and butt joints so I wanted to figure out which and didn't realize that I could actually cut the "overlap" part completely off.

1. cost of suit + cost of supplies / tools to put it together + misc = roughly ~ 1000 bucks.
2. depends - if you know what you are doing and you use something that sets faster (less forgiving) than E6000 - a day to build / a day to trim / test out the fit - but most builds take a few days because you don't want to rush
3. on a scale of 1-10? I would say 6 or 7 but I am not a crafty person so... if you had fun with model kits as a kid you should be good to go
4. there is a nice list here http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11760-basic-tools-needed-for-armour-building/
5. you could, but not really since it has to fit YOUR body - check out your local state / city garrison
6. You can buy one that's really nice for $200-250 from slavefive

so....I got an AM kit and it has the overlap, and from what I am reading it's better if not "more" professional to go ahead and use a butt joint with a cover strip.
does that mean I have to trim the overlap completely?

Can someone show me their leg setup on their armor?
I need to know how to attach the bottom / top and top / mid section.
Thanks!

I came across this site before I even discovered the FISD. I found it very helpful during my first armor build.
awesome thanks!

Is there a list of recommended locations for snaps on the velcro ?
I looked through some pictures and saw snaps in the shoulder and belt locations, but what about legs / shins / chest?
-
yeah but how do you decide between ESB or ANH?

ATA is pretty much spot on. RT mod is slightly whiter that AM (AM is kinda yellowish)
this is my ATA ESB helmet with my old AM chest under sunlight. You can see it's almost the same color.
Hope this helps
great thank you!!!

Does the helmet match the ABS Armor Master (AM) armor?
Would the AP ANH Stunt helmet match?
-
thanks for all the info.
I emailed RT Rob to see if he would offer a helmet kit separate.
-
are those worse or the same as EFX helmets?
will they pass 501st ?
-
thanks for the feedback, I decided on white.
-
Which one do you like more? It really comes down to your personnel preference, after all, you are going to be the one wearing it.
I faced the same decision a few months ago and decided on White for myself, but I would like to eventually do a Shadowtrooper as well.
I really like the black, but I feel like I would / could be missing out on the camaraderie ?
I don't want to be shunned ahaha
Biker Scout - where to get a helmet / armor cast?
in Hard Armor (General Discussion)

Last year I completed and have a ESB stormtrooper suit.
This year I would like to get and work on a biker scout suit.
Any suggestions as to where to get the helmet and other pieces?
