  1. I lament about the ineligibility of the FX, and MRCE buckets.

To me, the FX is a connection to the foundation of the Legion. There is a certain nostalgia there.
It's also one of the few helmets that will accommodate a pair of prescription glasses inside.

With the MRCE it's a little different. I perceive the MRCE to perhaps be more accurate to video game media than any other TK buckets specifically due to their symmetry. Video game characters are a big part of the Legion and even the FISD. Not that Iam bothered in any way, but I've always had a little chuckle in my head when seeing a Stormtrooper Commander with wonky helmet and a bumpy eyelid. I chuckle only because I know there is a difference whereas, 7 billion other people would not.

I specifically know that Lucasfilm event casting either doesn't recognize that the MRCE helmet is different, or they aren't concerned about it that level of detail.

  2. SOLD

I have a set of extra TK thighs available for $45 plus shipping.

They are glued and trimmed down a bit from standard ANH thighs. They are about an inch shorter, and have extra room in the groin and back of the knee. Optimally they would be a great fit for someone 5'8" or shorter.

The thigh on the right in the photo is a standard height ANH thigh, although it is modded to be larger in circumfrence than normal. It is pictured for scale reference. The set that is available is the normal circumfrence.

  3. Like some others, I really like the idealized symmetrical look of the MR CE. Although, a movie screen accurate wonky helmet has definate merit in my opinion and a special place in my heart as well.

Just to nerd out for a moment though, since costumes from Lucasarts games are considered 501st worthy, let's keep in mind that video game "screen accurate" stormtroopers at least since Rebel Assault in 1993 have all had symmetrical helmets. In particular I believe the new "Force Unleashed" title is even commonly accepted as official Star Wars canon. :P

  4. No said:
Does anyone put this little fabric (or whatever) strap on the back of theirs to hold down the shoulder strap?

    ----------

I do on my armor. Basically, it's just a thin white elastic strap looped around and tied in a knot.

It serves two purposes for me. It keeps my nylon straps from showing, as they seem to want to shift a bit, and they are one of those goofy "screen accurate" touches that only a few people would identify. I don't flood my TK with those types of details, but that is one that I do since it is easy and serves a dual purpose.

  5. I introduced myself as a citizen back in February, and I am now proud to introduce myself as a loyal member of the First Imperial Stormtrooper Detachment as TK 5430.

I requested ID 5430, as it is the official elevation (ft) of Boulder, Colorado.

Here's a pic of my armor as a Imperial defender of my son's bedroom.

My next step is to modify my holster in ANH fashion.

  6. Good to have you here at the FISD, Brack. :) Although I'm fairly new to costuming, myself, and have found out how challenging but fun it can be, the charitable aspects of the 501st is what attracted me to the organization, as well. It is rewarding to know that our Imperial presence can bring much joy to the citizens of the Empire.

It also doesn't hurt that the presence of a dozen or so TKs at an event works wonders at opening the purse strings. B)

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. This will be a long process for me, even at the budget level, but I look forward to when I can complete the investment in time and the costs involved and then participate and contribute at a larger level.
