  1. Hmm. A cartoon that is not life like looking different from live action movie stormtroopers. And some of you are whining about it? All the movies are different too. The thing is gentlemen, keeping the spirit of the TK alive is more important. They look like stormies to me. And these TKs will introduce them to a whole new generation. Fans of all ages will now know what we are. Instead of just being robots or ninjas or something else entirely. No one but us can see the SUBTLE differences. Maybe someone will do an animated TK. Just like the animated clones.

My point is, don't get your under armor in a bunch. Every movie was different. Each movie had a difference in the TK. Why get upset about a cartoon? Stop nerd raging and let's be happy the legacy of the TK will continue on.

  2. Ok, I have actually been at this point since about March. Had an F/X kit but bought a different helmet. Not sure of the maker but it's a great helmet. Sold the F/X and bought the ATA kit. Had a couple of friends come over and they helped me do a little of this build also.

Did the trimming, ordered the boat trim as per Thalizar's instructions. Cut the trim and taped it to the armor. Did some more work with my buddy to get things trimmed a little better and got some things glued and or taped.Using plastic weld on the finishing strips. I may use the plastic weld on the trim as well. I did a test with some spare ABS and boat trim and it didn't dissolve so that's a good thing.

I haven't done anything else since. Things got really heavy at work and then I had surgery on my shoulder so I am currently at a standstill. Here are a couple of pictures:

As soon as I am able to actually lift my arm again, I will get back to it. I already have a friend that will be doing the painting for me!

  3. I have seen screenshots, renders, and to me it just looks like the boxes are white and it is just shading where the boxes are grey. The only reference I can see that has grey boxes is the one on wookiepedia and one render. But that one render may just be shaded. I have seen it but it is still not clear cut. Other than that, screenshots all look white, the figures and gentle giant busts are white as well. And the rule for basing CRLs are what is the most concurrent reference? If we look at 10 references and 7 appear white then it should be white. If we look at 10 and 7 happen to be grey then it should be grey. And if we look at 20 and 14 happen to be white or grey then we go with that. But lets decide on how many references we want to look at so we don't get people popping up with "just one more" that rules in favor of white or grey. Lets decide on 5 or 10 references and go with the majority.

I also believe we shouldn't be looking at the character skins for Starkiller as the reference. We need to be looking at the TKCs that are in game. If we go with the Starkiller version then one drop box should be removed and a lightsaber would be added. But we are trying to portray the TKC not Starkiller in disguise. So let's gather the screenshots for the in game TKCs and go with that.

  4. Yep. My first kit was FX. I didn't know about the FISD until later. I was just doing a TK for a cool Halloween costume. Then found out about FISD and got a little more educated. I ended up paying more than I thought to get it up to code. I sold it to garrison member after about a year and a half and now working an ATA.

You will regret getting that armor. So if you do get that be prepared to hear "Nope" and "We told you so."
