  1. I'm about done with my gun, putting the 2nd coat of flat black on. Does anyone recommend putting some sort of sealant on after the last coat to keep it from rubbing off? I'm using Krylon paint and I swear in the past even after its been dry for days it still has a bit of a sticky feeling if you hold it for a little while.

  2. I have since cut, and "resealed" mine.

Cutting it gave me more problems than I would've liked. Like it would fall off one side, etc.

Honestly, in all the troops I've ever done having to go to the bathroom really badly happened once. So, for me, the cod is staying uncut from now on.

I'll probably go ahead and wait, troop in it a few times and then decide if I should keep it or cut it. Probably best to do that then cut it and regret it.

  3. Man I love the search button, I almost posted this same question!

I'm in the middle of my AM build, first ever set of armor. I have a friend who LOVES the fact his armor is not cut. I, however, do not want to have to take off half my armor just to take a leak.

I bought one of those canvas belts that should hopefully hid a cut cod piece pretty easily. I guess I just wanted to get more thoughts from everyone on this.

  4. Hey Jorran! I actually used to live just outside Orlando in Oviedo, even though I'm originally from KC. Small world eh?

Thanks for the input! I'm finally wrapping my brain around a lot of this...I just happen to overlook some of the more minor yet important details  .I'm still trying to decide how far I'm going to mod this blaster. I need to find some t-tracks still but other than that, I should be set once I get started. I really do like the idea of filling the front of the scope in and adding your own smaller tube to make it look a lot more like the real scope.

  5. Hi Brandon. I was using an older stunt helmet I had in the photos, but I have an AP now which I'll paint to match the armor better. I've also got an ATA which is HIPS and needs to be painted.

Some other options you might consider are:

    - AP (white ABS)

    - ATA (white HIPS)

    - TE2 (white HIPS)

    - TM (it's actually an off white, and I think he's made them in varying types of plastic but mostly ABS I think)

    - MRCE (the newer one. Needs some minor modifications, but it's fairly solid)

Thanks for the input. I ended up going with the last option and bought No'l's heavily modded MRCE for his Cow Trooper. I got my shipping confirmation today that my AM set will arrive on Friday!!

  6. I bought my Droopy Doos kit from their ebay store. I paid immediately and was sent the shipping confirmation the following day. It did, however take a better part of a week to arrive. It does need to be shipped from the UK so that'll add a bit of time. Have you tried emailing them to ask?

Question on the build - How did you fill in the scope? Did you cut a piece of plastic to fit into the opening and glue in place? I still need to buy the Bondo for filling in the holes in my own gun. I've never worked with it personally so I don't know how malleable or easy it is to work with outside of filling holes.

  7. This might be a complete noob question, but I am a noob so...

What type of sandpaper do you use for sanding plastic? Does it matter? I've got my Hasbro blaster plus the Droopy Doos kit so I'm eager to start.

    A few more questions:

What type of paint do you all recommend? I plan on doing the silver and gold undercoats for the body and scope respectively. Do I go primer coat, then silver/gold coat followe by the final flat black coat? I've always had a problem with spray paint to plastic always staying tacky...

Thanks again, I love this website and how helpful all this information is!

  8. Either one will work for you its all down to personal preference. I did a lot of research and decided to go with AM due to the fact it comes pre-trimmed and is a bit easier to put together. AP looks great as well so really you just need to read up on what YOU want in the armor and go that way. You can't go wrong with either set.

  9. It just so happens that I'm on my lunch break about to purchase the "lite" version of the AM armor! Seems like its destiny with the timing of this review, haha.

I'm going to have some guys from the local garrison help me out with assembling the kit. Is it possible to build it per the instructions and add the snap on setup at a later date or should I just jump straight in with snaps?

With No'l's bucket and a set of AM armor I should be ready in no time!

  10. Thanks Panda for such a great write up. I'm probably going to end up getting an AM set of armor for my first ever set. I have a few people in my local garrison who have offered to help put this together which will be incredibly helpful.

I went through your posts and couldn't find what helmet you chose. I know you got the light kit (I'm considering doing the same) but I cannot decide on the bucket.

    Thanks!

  11. Hey guys! I've been stalking the forums for a few weeks now since running into many 501st members at Celebration V. This was my first ever Star Wars convention and it finally pushed me over the edge on NEEDING a set of TK armor. I can see this becoming quite the hobby for me. I've already been in contact with my local 501st garrison (70th Explorers) and I hope to be joining their ranks soon.

I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. Thanks for such a great website and a wealth of knowledge. I'm still trying to make my ultimate decision as to which set of armor I'll get and the threads on here have been invaluable. I'm leaning towards AM for a set that seems relatively easy to put together for a noobie like myself. By no means will it be my only set, just my first :)
