  1. Welcome Joe,

I am also in central Florida, and hopefully will soon have my TD build completed. If you are interested, I have a complete set of AM armor. The armor looks, great, and is still in original box (not assembled except for thermal detonator). Actually I have two sets, one is white ABS for a TK/TD, and the other is black for a shadow trooper.

I saw that you were waiting for some AM armor, and I am not using these kits. Both are for sale if you are interested. I also have a T/MC helmet kit if interested? I am having a TD build with RS Propmasters, because I was interested in the direct link to the original ANH armor. The other kit was for my Daughter who now is looking to become an imperial officer.

    Kevin.

  2. hey Kevin thank you. :)

I just had a couple more questions about the kit.

In the kit description it lists what you can order and what optional things you can order:

    1. Full kit

    2. Armour only kit

    3. Helmet kit

    4. Additional matching plastic for butt joining armor.

    5. Canvas/Ducks cloth belt (frayed).

I would be going with a Full kit. But what is Item 4? Is that used if you dont want your butt and back plate separate?

And Item 5, is that comparable to say TKittel's belt http://forum.whitear...showtopic=10293

    Hi Robert,

I purchased just the Helmet portion of the kit (came with stickers and the bubble lenses I ordered, plus the stuff needed like Mic Tips, screen for frown, and the extras). The armor I got was AM, which worked fine for me, but I am sure T/MC armor kit is good also (appears both made of .090 ABS). My experience with the helmet I ordered, was Tray makes good quality gear.

I also got TKittel's canvas belt, and think it's well made. Unfortunately, I have not seen the T/Mc canvas belt. Perhaps others have this belt?

I can say that I am happy with the T/MC helmet, as it's sturdy .090 ABS (what I wanted), and works for the Hero build I will be attempting. But I am sort of new at this, so perhaps others can comment on how "details or features might compare with armor or helmets made with other materials"(Hips or thinner ABS?) , or T/MC full armor kits in general? Happy to assist with any questions if I can. If you like I can let you know how my T/MC helmet build goes when I start (still doing the AM armor at the moment).

    Thanks,

    Kevin.

  3. I am in the same boat. The only thing I am worried about is the softer lines produced from the thicker ABS.

Hi Catherine. I think the T/MC kit I received is great.

However, the thicker ABS (.090), can possibly produce slightly softer lines, as I have been told also. But, I did want the thicker ABS, since the .090 ABS will be the same as my .090 ABS AM armor, which was a reason for me to go with Tray's T/MC helmet kit. Also, I can generally be a little rough on equipment, and will have extra stuff in the bucket, as I also purchased a headset/amp, and wireless transmitter from TK6294 (with is also a great kit).

Sorry. This is my first helmet build, so I do not have a direct comparison (doing my armor now, so helmet will be next). I'm doing a Hero helmet, so the lines and details work for my particular build, that I'm going to do. Except that it comes with the stunt ear bumps, but Tray does have the Hero bubble lenses. TD 2243 recommended the T/MC helmet me, which I appreciated, and he has one already completed. I'll see if it might be possible for him to respond to this thread. If anyone else has more detailed information that would also be great? Thanks. Kevin.

  4. Any updates here? Im researching my next purchase and leaning towards T/MC.

Hi Robert. Sorry for not getting back sooner, but was on vacation. I agree with Darth Voorhees, that Tray's (T/MC helmet) kits are great.

I wanted a helmet that was .090 ABS, to go with my AM armor, which is also .090 ABS. I guess the thickness of the ABS, can open a discussion on some of the helmet detail, but for me I wanted something sturdy like my armor. I'm satisfied with the quality of the kit I received.

TD 2243, was good enough to provide to me some good information, and a great recommendation, as his helmet is already finished (I am still on my armor build). I'll drop him a line, and see if he might possibly be able to respond to this thread? Thanks. Kevin.

  5. Hi, all. Good information, and very helpful. I appreciate everyones reply.

Sound like if I decide to do the Hero build, and want to get EIB, then it's 3 bumps. No problem, except for maybe my ability to work with putty, and bondo. However, would be cool when finished.

I think I'll also follow up with John. Sounds like a excellent possible option, and a great recommendation from Daetrin.

    Thanks.

  6. Hi. I had a question about ear bumps. I've received some good feedback, but looking for any extra info per the EIB.

The ANH CRL indicates 3 or 4 bumps allowed. I just got my helmet kit (Trays), and looks great. It has 4 bumps, but might want to go Hero? The EIB requirements indicates 6 teeth, and the 2 screws on the side, but no further info on the bumps?

Can I stick with the 4 bumps if I go Hero, and want to get EIB status?

If not, then what is recommended to go from 4 to 3 (a type of paste, or are there ear kits available?).

    Thanks.

  7. Here’s a thigh. Having already test fitted it, it’s about a half inch too tall compared to my current armor. To make it more comfortable for trooping, I’m going to cut 1†off the top, and do a return edge using a heat sealing iron.

Here you can see where I drew some lines as guides. The inner thigh height was fine, it was mostly the front and outer edges that were too tall. The transitions and follows the original curve as close as can be, with a little eyeballing.

I’ve cut about ½†off the thighs, leaving a bit of plastic to heat and bend for the return edge. This is just a first pass with the iron. Yes, it looks rough, but once you event it out, and sand it, it looks fine.

After. Just take your time and go slowly, heating sections at a time. Fix the blemishes after with a Dremel and some sanding.

Great thread. I just received my AM armor, and I am very impressed with the kit, and the service from TupperwareTK. Can't wait to get started, but looking for the proper tools. Would you have a quick list of some of the needed supplies? I'm thinking E-6000, clamps, masking tape, and magnets. You mentioned a heating iron for plastic? What kind are you using that bends the plastic, but will not warp, or damage it? Can the iron be used to reshape small, and large parts? I think AM armor is great stuff, and I appreciate your thread on the build. This will be my first build. Thanks.

  8. Hi, everyone. I've purchased a T/MC ANH helmet from Tray Nichols. It's .090 ABS, which is a match for my AM armor. Tray sent me a message that it has been shipped. The helmet looks great (pics), and comes highly recommended. Can't wait for it to arrive. I've been told it can be made into either Stunt or Hero. I haven't decided yet.

Wondering if someone has experience with this helmet per some of the following questions (or just Hero/Stunt differences any helmet). Reading the CRL, it appears the stunt can be "either" 3 or 4 bumps on the ear. Hero doesn't mention the ear bumps, but does mention the number of screws for the ear piece (2)? Hero has 3 bumps I believe? The helmet (Trays) comes with 4 bumps. So ANH Stunt ready, but if I go with Hero can I keep the 4 bumps? Also, If I would like to go for "EIB" can the 4 bumps remain, and if not do I have to fill in a bump with ABS paste. I might need ABS paste for the frown also. Can the paste be purchased? Thanks.

  9. Welcome Kevin. Thanks for sharing and thanks for all the good words. We all look forward to seeing your progress and hopefully meet you at CV.

Thanks, Tray. It would be great to see you and other troopers at C5. I'll be working on the Kit. But if not ready I still have passes for the celebration.

  10. Welcome to a future TB Squad member from a future (fingers crossed) Makaze Squad member! :dancing-trooper:

Have I seen you on the FLG boards at all? If not, get your TK butt over there! :laugh1:

I'm not on the FLG boards there yet, but I definitely will get involved with the site. Hopefully we will be in those squads soon.

  11. Welcome - great story. :)

    Coming to C5?

I have a four day pass for C5. Looking forward to going, and hopefully meeting a lot of 501st members. I would like to have my build complete, and ready to participate, but with work and time remaining it might not happen. However, just being there will be great.

  12. Hi, just wanted to introduce myself to the 501st. My wife Debbie and I, went to see a movie opening night in LA back in '77 called Star Wars (long before called ANH), and I have been a Star Wars fan ever since, as are all my family members. My Daughter and I, were at the Star Wars Weekend at Disney's Studios last month, and saw the 501st there. We were immediately very impressed, and started looking at the web site. I have since then looked around on the forum pages, and got a lot of great information.

I wound up ordering an AM armor kit. It just arrived, and looks fantastic. TupperwareTK was great to work with, and everything packed very professionally. Can't wait to start the build. I also received a canvas belt from TK7143 (Rob/Tkittell). I am very happy with the belt, as is well made. Rob was really helpful with 501 questions, and armor. I ordered a helmet from T/MC (Tray Nichols). There were several good choices, but his helmet was .090 ABS like my armor kit, and came highly recommended. TD 2243 (Daniel) was very helpful with the helmet. I appreciated the Pics. I emailed TK6294 (Jim) and got a great Amplifier kit (Aker MR 1506 10watt amp, with wireless headset, and PTT). Jim is very knowledgable on the subject, and very helpful with stormtrooper information in general. I contacted a Florida Garrison GML (Zach), and he has been fantastic with helping me get started, and very informative. This is true for TD1855 (Dave) down here in Florida also, who has been very encouraging.

I don't mean to go like this, but everyone connection with the 501st, that I have so far contacted, and worked with, has been superb at assisting me, and helping above and beyond. I feel great about my decision to join up (as soon as my armor is finished!!!!!). My Daughter Erin is at University of South Florida, and really wants to join also (Probably a shadow trooper..TX). My other Daughter Shannon is very interested in Star Wars as well (she is currently serving in the Marines).

I welcome any suggestions, as I move forward with the AM build, and with the T/MC helmet. Also happy to get involved with any local trooping functions that I can in Florida. Hoping to be ready by C5, but this might be to ambitious. I appreciate everyones assistance.

    Thanks,

    Kevin
