Good to see you here. Coast Fibertek sells a lot of fiberglassing stuff, so they carry rubber chemical gloves. MEC will have lots of baselayers, light weight synthetic, as well as mid weight merino wool.
I probably told you before in person, but ATA kit is what I have for my TD.
See you around the north shore!

Maybe an epoxy? or a special ABS glue?
I'm using the good old E6000. It held together so fast probably because I had the plastic surface sanded down a lot before applying the glue on.
i ll have to use some other type of clamp, cant find those damn earth magnet around here...which i knew where to look for them around here...
Where do you live? Lee Valley based in South Vancouver is where I got my rare earth magnets.

what look are you going for....a new hope or ESB or just as best as you can?

Oops, how did this picture get up here?
Oh, yes, the hot water pipe underneath my bedroom broke. So I'm building everything in the backyard in the meantime.
Day 3
Went to purchase some extra Rare Earth magnets. Every trooper needs to have these when building an armor. Just don't work on a metal table like I did here.....
Leave 8mm when trimming.
The clamps tend to shift the halves apart, so after I took this photo, I had to realign the ABS strip, re clamp the ends, place the earth magnets back in to the middle section.
It takes a good 20 minutes to glue the halves together. I know that because I went to remove the clamps after the first period of the Nuck's games.....HEHE.
Up next, the right thigh. Stay tuned.

Day 2
Forearm.
Haven't glued anything yet, but I've managed to trim the two right forearm pieces down to 8mm on the length side. Scored and snapped out two 16mm X 250mm long ABS plastic strip, which will hold the entire forearm together.

I guess I have audience.
My fellow troopers, if you see anything you want me to correct or something that needs done during the course of the build, sound up. Constructive criticism and intel is always welcome in my house.
Anyways....DAY 1
In between the Canuck games, I started trimming the forearm, biceps and shoulder bells.
Correct me if I am wrong, my understanding is that there is no return edge on the top side of the forearm ? So I did a rough trim of the two pieces and left enough room for correction.
I forgot to mention, I pulled a muscle last weekend on my sea kayaking training course, so I'm taking it easy with my right wrist / forearm.
However, the RC plastic scissors have proven to be very easy to use when trimming ABS, a lot better than the "cut and score" method.
I should go in to work tomorrow wearing this instead of a tensor bandage.....
My dog Max can't wait to see the helmet assembled.

One morning, I had a revelation: Press the restart button, build a new armor!
So I ordered the ATA ABS kit.
Finally got it in the mail this afternoon!
My hands were sweating when I picked up the part. Took a quick glance inside the box. Surprisingly, everything fits in to such a small box.
Anyways, going to watch the Canucks games tonight and worry about trimming tomorrow. ( No offense to any Chicago based troopers )

Ordered my kit.
Between now and the arrival, I'll just keep punching in the codes everything 108 minutes......

I thought the cake was a bigger helmet for someone else! Good job Georgia Garrison!

Welcome Wes, I'm based in North Vancouver, good to see a potential Badlanders.

I hear ATA has a new ABS kit, any review on that?
Yes, ATA is now making ABS kits. Just placed an order for my up coming TD build.

Greetings Troopers from across the board,
My name is Yves, from North Vancouver, BC, Canada. I've been on the forum since the Summer of 2010, but I haven't posted anything, nor introduced myself. Do apologize. I am actually a Sandtrooper, and as of this moment, I am officially a member of the 501st Legion. ( Yes, as I was typing the title of this message, the Legion Membership welcome email came in. )
I am a videographer and film editor, so I don't have a lot of time to sleep.
This site has helped me so much with my build and understanding of TK armors. Totally appreciate everyone's suggestion and advice.
Looking forward to read more about armor construction.
Regards,
Yves
