I'm having trouble getting a balaclava - every time I go in to the store, they say it should be in next week. If they don't have it by this weekend, I will have to order one on-line.
I've tried to just tuck it in to my neck seal (flat) and it works it's way out the top (the balaclava should stop that though). For now I've just had my husband braid it strait down the back, which leaves a weird looking and feeling bulge at the back of my neck. I tried having two braids, which put two bulges on the sides of my neck instead. The only time I tried having a "bun" sitting inside my helmet, I could not get my helmet on with the bun already pinned in place and if I try having it tucked into my helmet, it changes where my helmet sits and I can see even less than before.
Current issue to fix though - how to get the gloves and forearm to fit over a splint.

We are definitely all involved (and obsessed) with the 501st. Our daughter is hoping to save up enough to make a Shadow Guard, but as she will be attending college next year, that will be on hold for a while and she is content to be our handler/photographer. Our son is one of the Cadets with a TX that we made for him out of craft foam and is hoping to do a Fett or Mandalorian next as he has already outgrown his costume. He has 4 years to save up and assemble his suit before he can join the 501st.

I've been on the boards for quite a while, but never actually introduced myself. I decided to become a Stormtrooper after my husband started trooping in his Shadowtrooper. I've been his handler for the last several months. Now we have drafted our children into being our handlers and I will troop along side him. I just received my number this morning - I am TK6944 (which is nice as it is one number off his TX6924).

Hello, I know this is going to seem like an odd question, but what do you do with your hair when it is quite long.? My hair is thick and about shoulder blade length. I have tried tucking it into my helmet (didn't fit), tried tucking it into my neckseal (made a huge lump on the back of the neck) and tried braiding it (made for a lump on each side of my neck).
I know there should be an easy fix for it, but at this point I think the only thing I can see would be to get a bigger helmet just to be able to put my hair inside (my husbands FX fits my hair, but I know that is out of the question).

Welcome. It's always nice to see another Badlander here. I am also in the process of putting a TK together and my husband (the reason I started this) is a TX. We are based in Calgary. You will find lots of advice to any question you have both here and on the Badlands site.

Thank you. The black around the ear was the main thing I was wondering about - but I can't find any information on which rib gets a black bar over it. It seemed to be missing from the threads I had found so far. I will paint it tomorrow.

I'm building my first helmet (ANH stunt style) and am trying to decide if I still need to do anything to finish it off. I keep looking at all the different photos and am not sure if I should touch up various parts or just leave it as is. I'm really hoping that it will be ready for trooping by Thursday so I can join my husband in costume (instead of just as his handler).

We found my husbands black boots at Sears. They were on a major sale - only $25. Unfortunately that was last september.

Okay - I tried to remove the crap today with very little results. I started with WD-40 since that is what we had readily available at home, then moved on to Goo Gone. After several attempts at both - I left the stuff on for varying amounts of time (up to one hour), I moved on to trying the mayonnaise and then the peanut butter. The Goo Gone managed to remove some of the residue left from the tape on the outside of the front (not sure why it was there in the first place), but nothing has worked on the residue from the velcro ab buttons (at least I think that is what the circles were). The good part about all this is the residue remaining is no longer sticky - it just looks bad. At this point I have to decide if it is worth it to try the hair dryer.
From what I can tell, the yellow substance that was used mainly on the inside of the front is not really a glue that most people would have used for plastics, it is more of a type of wood insulation or filler. It is very similar to stuff I have seen in the cracks between the boards in a log cabin. The unfortunate part is this must have been very runny when applied as there is trails of it that run onto the outside of the suit. At this point it is looking like my only option is to sand it off with very fine sandpaper.

I will be working on the first piece tomorrow. In response to why I need to remove it - when I took the straps off, it left lots of exposed glue on the inside that will end up sticking to my Under Armor if I don't remove it (or cover it with something). After looking at some of the other pieces, I have found lots of glue and tape on the outside of it as well.

I am trying to repair a suit that I bought and need to remove a lot of tape and glue. It is mainly on the inside of the suit, so minor discoloration will be okay. I just want to know what type of solvent to use that wont create a lot of damage.

Okay, I have you say you guys are making me feel even bigger than I thought I looked. I have just gotten my armour (second hand) and it has to be completely redone to fit better. The sad part is I outweigh everyone that has posted on here so far. I guess I will have to jump on the band wagon and start losing the pounds and inches too.

Thank you everyone. Hopefully this works as I have enough to do repairing the rest of it. I had hoped to be able to get 501st status by summer, but now it's looking like it will be fall when I apply. So much for being told it was troopable when I bought it.

Some of the rivest in question are odd in that they seem to have some kind of cover on both the front and back (so I'm not sure if those are rivets or something else). Do I just guess at what the size and where the shaft is or do I use something different on those ones. They are barely raised above the plastic on both sides, so I am not sure I can get much of a grip on them. They are also painted and possibly glued as well.

I recently bought a second hand suit and it is put together almost completely with rivets. The areas around several of them are cracking. I need to remove the rivets and repair the suit, but not sure how. Any advice would be most welcome.
