Greetings,

I am a fellow member for the Mississippi Rancor Raiders and I am looking to work towards building TK armor or even Sandtrooper armors. I have done some reading and with all the posting out there I am sort of getting lost in all the different information. I have learned there are differences in some of the armor classes. But for what I am looking for at this time.

I have several co-workers and friends that are interested in joining and building armor and at this time we are sort of remotely distant from other members in MS due to travel times. And a friend of mine is interested in building a vacuum form table and assisting in building armor pieces for himself and a few others at this time. So what I am looking for is if there is anyone out there that might have the specs and measurements for TK armor and Sandtroopers so that we can make molds for vacuum forming?

I know that re-casting is frond upon so I want to make sure that we are following all the proper guidelines to making the armor. Any and all information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Great question - considering how many hours it takes to make molds from scratch, it's pretty hard to cost justify when the price for armor kits has never been cheaper, even when avoiding recasters. Even if you are only making $10/hour, unless it's a labor of love it will cost you far more to create from scratch.

Few have tried - RT, TM, and via proxy FX are all on this board. Only one or two other folks have tried. I know in the clone world a few folks who have and it's taken them hundreds of hours to make their molds.

Jon - one more thing: you may find more info on the RPF. There are so few people actually making molds on FISD that we really don't have a lot of info on doing so.

If there is enough interest though we can certainly created a section of the site dedicated to vac forming - even if people aren't doing armor there's a lot of small bits that can be made too.

Thoughts?

I've done some vac forming (not TK related) and a good amount of sculpting / casting techniques. I think a special forum would be good for anything casting related, not just vac forming so long as we keep things. I know I'd be posting there lots, but I'm not sure how many other people would use it?
