Weathering grime effects

Recommended Posts

For some types of weathering I use a rag, pick up from the middle, twist and you end up with a small ball, tie this with some string and you have a dabbing ball, you can then use waterbased acrylic paint to add to the armor or foam, it does stick quite well and you can build up until you are happy with the look. Once you are finished you can give the whole thing a coat of satin clear which will help the acrylic to not rub off.

Lots of builds over at MEPD, here is just one I found http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?/topic/16175-muddy-mimban-from-australia/

So I ended up mixing grey and black acrylic paints, with about a 5:1 ratio and just dabbing it on with a brush. Then I placed a large piece of saran wrap over the painted area, pressed it down, then took it off.
I let this dry for maybe 5-10 min, then sprayed the area with water to let the paint run some, giving it a more natural muddy look.
