FNG, no wait... FTL900 TK ANH build thread.

@LTM suggested i start a build thread, to document my progress (little to none) and allow others to help with advice when I get stuck.
That seems like a great idea, so I'm starting it here.

I bought an RS Props trimmed kit, and it arrived in December.   So far I've completed the thermal detonator (reasonably well but not perfect), trimmed the wrist end of the top forearm piece (but couldn't figure out how much to trim on the elbow end) and I trimmed the helmet a little, as well as cutting out the eyes and the frown.  RICHIE STORMTROOPER videos helped a lot with that.   RS Props videos helped a little less, he runs through things like you already know what he's doing.

I'm reasonably close to the average guy build... 5'11" and 200-210 pounds, more stomach than I'd like, but i just bought an electric bike so I'll get out and ride more often.  :smiley-sw013:

Hi Michael, great to see your Kit has arrived.

If you're like me and like the video tutorials, I would like to recommend you to take a look to this video from RWA creations, they are so practical and I think they could be so helpful for you.

Also you can take a look to this forum post about return edges .  Remember, post photos , ask questions  . If you're not sure of a cut, post a photo here prior to cut anything.

We are here to help.   :salute:

Since I'm much better at shopping than actually building things, I ordered this E-11 blaster awhile back.

Since then, someone mentioend to me that it isn't the correct blaster that I should be carrying.
Can anyone shed any light on this, and what blaster I should have?

Yeah, E-11... that's what I ordered.   Which one SHOULD i have ordered?

Each of the Original Trilogy films have E-11's which are different in each of the movies, the one you purchased is a Return of the Jedi version, you will need A New Hope version, links in above post of the differences

This version ANH blaster was for Hero's, also used in ESB (Empire Strikes Back) so you would have to add pieces to it

(and even then there where different versions)

There are differences so research is advisable

Rubber will be the most durable for trooping. Caleb has a great article below. I have personally owned a doopys (was heavy and would not survive a drop), a master blaster 3D print with Tino's upgrade kit (had to be very careful trooping with it), and a rubber gun (no damage if dropped).  Depends on what you want to spend, you can always list the one you bought and try to recoup some of the cost.

Heres a recent thread on buying:

Here's my goal for today.... getting these parts trimmed out.

Starting with these arm pieces, my understanding is that all the edge parts get trimmed off of these so they don't have any end on them.

Once those are trimmed to remvoe the excess on each end, do these get trimmed the same way?  Does all that extra on each end come off?

And are these all 4 arm pieces?   I think they all forearm pieces.   Does left matter from right for these parts?  I think the thumbprint is an indicator.   How do I know which pie ce matches it?

Digging thorugh the box, I also found this second longer set... maybe THIS is the forearm pieces?

Do both ends get trimmed so the piece lays flat on my arm?

So this piece should be trimmed roughly here??

Depending on how they fit on your arms you can leave some return edge (next ridge down in your photo), most trim all the edge off (as you have marked)

When in doubt check the gallery sections ;)

FYI for some reason some of your images aren't showing, you may want to try an online image host such as Imgur

Some of the pics appear to be broken link,s to me too... I'm just trying to keep the number of steps to a minimum, so I don't have to take a pic, send it to google phtoos, download it onto my laptop, upload it to an image sharing page, and then share the link to this forum, for each picture i post.
I'll have to work on it a bit.   Maybe I need an upload app installled on my phone to negagte the google photos section.

Unfortunately "this is the way" a free image host is what the majority of us use, Google, Facebook and other shares do not always work on forums

Imgur is one of the more popular hosting sites and easy to use. Definitely follow Joseph tutorial it is the way to go.

odd  thing is, all of those were copied and pasted from google photos, but some later appeared as broken links to me too.

I'm looking into a mobile app tht will upload to imgur, to cut out a couple of steps.

Many Google and FB images only appear for a small amount of time, here today gone tomorrow ;)
