Congratulations to our 1000 Expert Infantry

With our 1000th EIB and March to 1000 now complete we take a look back to where it all began, bare with me as a lot of information is buried deep down and some has been lost over the years, I'm sure @Daetrin can chime in but this is what I have uncovered.

Initially conceived by our detachment founder Paul "Daetrin" TK8020 back in 2006, here is the first outline of the program https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/5-expert-infantryman-badge-eib-program-overview/

In January 2007 a name had to be found https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/560-we-need-a-name-for-deployment/ discussed and a poll went up https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/633-poll-deployent-name/ the winning name being "Mark" (IV, V, VI).

This name stuck for a little while but in August 2007 there was another poll https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/1347-deployment-name-poll/ this time it was decided the program would be called "Elite".

In March 2009 a new poll went up to come up with a new name https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/6378-changing-elite-to-something-else/page/5/ with now outcome and in the end our detachment founder Paul decided on the name Expert Infantryman https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/6378-changing-elite-to-something-else/?do=findComment&comment=82088 his post below:

"In the end I decided to re-brand our program as "Expert Infantry", with Elite troopers becoming Expert Infantryman. This is based on the Expert Infantryman Badge in the U.S. Army - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expert_Infantry_Badge for more info."

Program name changes
Mark 1-5
Elite 6-65
Expert Infantry 66-1000

EIB graphics

Now on to some graphics and much of this had been discussed in staff areas, but here are just a few of the early designs

It was suggested to keep it more to the military style, here is the military's Expert Infantryman Badge http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Expert_Infantry_Badge

There are a total of 74 recipients of multiple EIB awards, congratulations to you all

NOTE If you are approved with a "2nd Version" of a particular costume that you are already approved with you do not receive an additional award, there is only 1 award issued for each costume version ie: only 1 x Hero, 1 x Stunt, 1 x HWT, 1 x ESB, 1 x TFA and so on.

If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd Version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars.

A full list of all all FISD awards can be found here

I am indebted to you Glen for chasing down and uncovering all this FISD history.   Guys, this is hours and hours of work digging in to the past and reading old and broken forum posts, gleaning out all the little bits and such.  I'll try to add a few more thoughts and memories later today.

Here are some good questions:

1) Who was the first person to receive an "expert infantry" award from FISD?

2) On the (now broken) EI listing page, what is the significance of the background images?

3) Who was the only person to be approved with an FX helmet?

4) Who was the first ESB EIB?

5) Who was the first Centurion?

6) Why can't you have more than one Centurion award?

7) Why were the colors chosen for the Centurion award?

8) What was the first piece of EI merch ever created?

9) Why are EI coins numbered and why can people only buy one?

10) What FISD costumes has no one ever gotten to EI (or Centurion)

OK FISD nerds, let's see what you got!

Thank you once again Paul, I thought this deserved a place in the EI section so it doesn't get lost in the newsletter. Some great questions you have posted, I won't spoil the fun for everyone by answering them ;)

Totally agree this needed to be kept in here and not lost in the newsletter. Too much hard work went into it and it;s a fantastic part of the Detachments history in a very readable format.

Thanks again Glen.

OK FISD nerds, let's see what you got!

Since nobody else took up the challenge

1) Who was the first person to receive an "expert infantry" award from FISD? The first "expert infantry" John TK2036 (although EIB was not in the thread title ;)) , the first "Elite" Joey TK2126, the first "Mark IV"  Scott TK4149

2) On the (now broken) EI listing page, what is the significance of the background images? Each costume version had background from the movie it was from, command staff had millennium falcon in death star landing bay

3) Who was the only person to be approved with an FX helmet?  I thought a few did, Scott TK4149, also poll to remove FX helmet from EI program here

4) Who was the first ESB EIB? Mark TK8993

5) Who was the first Centurion? Mathias TK2959

6) Why can't you have more than one Centurion award?, Couldn't find the direct answer, did come across one of your posts "There are some valid reasons why the Centurion is a single reward, and part of that logic is so that people don't get so wrapped up at the top that we lose our focus on getting the other 1800 TK's brought up to par." post is here

7) Why were the colors chosen for the Centurion award? Based on the Roman Centurion theme, you mention it here

8) What was the first piece of EI merch ever created? 2008 EI coin thread here coin image here

9) Why are EI coins numbered and why can people only buy one?  A singular incentive to reach EI level, numbered for tracking purposes

10) What FISD costumes has no one ever gotten to EI (or Centurion) Stormtrooper Concept Armor

Q1: Correct! However due to the way the EI history page is set up though, Scott M. was the first person to be shown in the list, and in some ways really was the first EIB in that regard. You are otherwise correct :)

Q2: Incorrect! Only the detachment founder get the Falcon as the background.  Staff has the bridge of the super star destroyer.

Q3: Correct!  The last person though was Joey, TK MD from Bolivia IIRC.

Q4: Correct!

Q5: Correct!

Q6: That statement is correct - the goal ever is to get more people to get EI, not Centurion, so we wanted to keep the incentives heavy for EI.  People seem to go Centurion on their own.

Q7: Correct!

Q8: Correct!

Q9: Incorrect!  The reason is that the person who did the first EI coin run (tk533)  made extras on the side, and was caught selling them at a nice profit on eBay. He was banned from FISD and the Legion, and we started numbering them after that to ensure it was impossible for that to happen again.

Q11: Correct!

Bonus!  What was the first piece of FISD merchandise ever made, and who did the run?

Glen, you really do win the prize for best work :)

FISD Patch Run, April 24, 2007 (can be found here) note it had the words “2007 Inaugural” in Aurebesh along the top. Only 100 were ever made

Curious - is there an Excel spreadsheet that contains all of the specs on the EIB and Centurion award recipients over the years?

Not that I'm aware, DO's may have something.

@Deployment Officer Team If the above exists, I'd sure love a copy just for my own curiosity.

I haven't seen one in our archives, most of the information Glen went through when we basically lost the old EI gallery and he spent a very long time creating the new one we use today.

Old was lost due to forum upgrades.

As you know Glen is pretty darn thorough when he does something, and he found discrepancies building the new which we adjusted appropriately.

Are you volunteering to build an Excel doc for us :D

If it doesn't exist already, and y'all can send me anything that does... yea sure.

In fact, I've already started and have linked Andrew my draft to see if he thinks it would be helpful.

Bare in mind as Andrew mentioned I found quite a few discrepancies with multiple members with more than one EIB award number, multiple of the same version costume awarded and some not even issued one, these were adjusted and some renumbered, some removed.

Found it!

Got to EIB 828, Centurion 399 so it’s pretty out of date now.

Shoot it over and I'll update and fix it as needed! Email should be in my profile for staff.

Thanks Justin, muchly appreciated.

The list provided by @themaninthesuitcase has been completed up to current for EIB, and then for the last 5 years of EIB approvals with additional data available in the  threads that may be beneficial for analysis. Please reach out to @Sly11if additional Staff members would benefit from the information. I hope it helps and I'll continue to add to it as I have additional time, but bringing the EIB list up to present was the real first push.

The Centurion tracker tab has been updated to current as well, including additional info as above.

Will I get around to completing these fully? Maybe. Is it a whole lot better/more complete than it was? Oh yea. 2nd push done.

I did a bit of hyperlinking so that the applications and account info can be pulled up easy, and some VLOOKUPs so I didn't have to enter info multiple times. Please don't break it with edits, and I'll add more features as I have time. The tabs with charts are very much just initial attempts at pulling useful data, but they give you an idea of what can be learned/what trends can be tracked potentially.

Definitely a couple of gaps in the numbering that I found, so please have the @Deployment Officer Team review for accuracy in case these have already been addressed.
