Fan Battery Pack Help

Recommended Posts

I am trying to fit the Ukswrath 4 fan kit and speakers/amp/icomm into my helmet. I got most of it in but can’t seem to find room for the two lipstick chargers I need for the fans. I could put one in the front and one in the back to balance but may need to rewire to get to the cable to reach the front (vocoder area under the frown). Has anyone used a dual output phone charger for the 4 fan kit to take up less space? I was looking at the ones below but was hoping to get one that won’t overheat or melt next to my head...

Thanks,

Ryan

Size wise I have used a couple of packs that were single port just like that ATOM and ANKER you linked to in my bucket.  They fit ok.  I'm using a lipstick charger now with a single port and I have wired up a old breadboard section with some switches so I can turn my two pairs of fans on and off independently as well as my hearing assist.

You are running 4 fans in one lipstick charger? Where is your charger in your bucket?

Hey Ryan credit card sized chargers work well also. Here's one I bought a couple months back. It appears it's currently not available but there's others that are similar.

Still searching for USB power banks for when I do the interior.  Is this lipstick charger the same as the others that I could hook up to a fan?  Preferably one that does not heat up next to my head would be ideal.

There are smaller versions than these if you're interested. https://www.etsy.com/listing/820261985/5v-battery-for-hearing-and-cooling?ref=shop_home_active_4&crt=1

That's what I was looking for to go in my bucket.  I'm not a teck savvy person, but I would like to have a go at connecting 5v fans to a USB cord for a USB power bank instead of constantly buying batteries.  I've had a look at the link along with some other items as well and wanted to ask a few questions before deciding. Some of these questions may sound obviouse, but I am on a budget and don't wish to purchase the worng products or have ideas that might not work and left with a product that I never use.

1. What are the dimentions of the lipstick charger?

2. Since the fans will be 5v, the lipstick charger would also need to be 5v and no less than 1.5amp.  It looks like Ukswarth charger ticks those boxes, but I don't know how many chargers I need.  Some troopers connect 1 fan to 1 charger or even 2 fans to 1 charger using a Y split connector (also supplied seperatly by Ukswrath) https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/600189617/5vdcy-harness-for-ukswrath-sha-and?ref=related-7

I plan on having 2 fans in my bucket, so would I need 2 of these chargers or can I use 1 charger and 1 Y split connector?

3. Having 2 fans hooked up to a lipstick charger from a Y split connector, does the split connector provide 5v and 1.5amp to both fans equally?  Or does it send half of the chargers power to 1 fan and half power to the other?

4. The hearing assist is something I'm still unsure about if I need one.  By having a hearing assist, would it amplify the quiet fan sound making it loud in the ear?

Any other additional information that I might have left out would be greatly appreciated.

1. Chargers are roughly 3" L x 3/4" across or wide. I can get you exact measurements if you like.

2. One 5v Charger will run tw 5v fan for a few hours.

3. Yes however, most if not all fans are made in China and I've seen some with more output volume than others even though they have the exact same p/n and rating specs.

4. The hearing assist or SHA will amplify everything. That said, if you mount and insulate the SHA mics behind the ears as illustrated in one of my tutorials it will help to reduce interior helmet noises. Also, this year I started selling fans with slightly slower fan speeds without dramatically effecting air volume output to help reduce fan noise.
