Flocky's Funeral

Recommended Posts

As many may have seen on the 501st FB page we recently lost one of our members Peter "Flocky" Flockton on 6th October, although we had attended some funerals in the past we had never attended one for a fallen member.

We said our final goodbyes at Peter's funeral Friday, one of the largest turn outs of members in some time, I would like to personally thank everyone for their participation and professionalism.

Fallen but never forgotten, you will be missed brother.

Thank you Jerry and Marie for the troop report

REPORT:

We proceed to the funeral home to setup the photos of Peter that Stuart had very kindly organised for the family. A very special thank you to his boss at Officeworks Jandakot for supplying these at no cost. Soon afterwards other members of both Garrisons started to arrive and we quickly managed to take over the reception area of the funeral home, photos were taken in Garrison shirts, then after we had kitted up photos with buckets off (except for Q who did not want the germs out) and then with buckets on.

At this time some members took the opportunity to say a last farewell to Peter before moving to the anteroom, as the chapel was full to the brim with family and friends all ready. This meant that we had to watch the service on the big screen up until near the end when I was able to say a few words on behalf of his Star Wars family. When I had finished and the celebrant had said a few final words the Garrison processed in through the side door and formed the guard of honour down the centre aisle much to the delight of all the attendees. The garrison and Legion preceded the coffin out of the chapel, to the Imperial March, and reformed the guard behind the hearse while Peter was placed into it.

We then moved to line the driveway for the final farewell to our friend and fellow legionnaire.

After moping up the tears and photos with some of the family and friends we dekitted and most of us headed to the Henley Brook to have a drink in honour of Peter (Flocky) Flockton.

Goodbye old friend until we meet again.

Rest in Peace.

Well done to you all, Glen. I always like to think of funerals as a celebration of a life, not so much a loss of one. As part of that celebration, you and your Garrison will have made a positive impression on Peter’s family and friends and shown just how treasured he was.

Buckets off, for Peter.
