Hello everyone, newbie here. So I have always wanted to join the 501st and never had the time but I have recently inherited an eFX ANH helmet (nothing has been done to it, been kept in the  box for the last 3 or 4 years) along with certain other stars finally aligning, meaning now is the time to dive right in. I understand this helmet is not "approvable" out of the box but am having some trouble finding out what needs to be done to it exactly and whether or not I should pair this with a set of R1TK armor or ANH armor. Any helpful links or personal insights would be a great help thanks.

Hello and welcome aboard, firstly the ANH and R1 armor and helmets are completely different, EFX helmet will not match R1.

You may want to have a look at the CRL's (costume reference library) for ANH https://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_anh_stunt and R1 http://databank.501st.com/databank/Costuming:TK_rogue_one

Take a look through some of the build sections to also see the difference ;)

EFX helmets are quite large in spots and less accurate compared to many other available helmets out there, you may be better keeping that as a shelf piece and purchase a helmet and armor together, you won't have any issues with color matching then either.

Most don't use the EFX these days, there have been some threads in regards to modifications but some of those links are images no longer work since the forum transfer, here are a few items which may be of help:

1) Replace lenses with darker ones

2) Fill in the seam just below the frown with caulk or similar

3) Replace the tube stripes

4) Add correct number of screws to the ears

Good luck with the research, hope to see a build thread from you soon

Thank you all for the warm welcomes, I've been spending quite a bit of time on these forums and across Google gobbling up as much info as I can and came across a pic of the MRCE next to an ATA and have decided my eFX will be a shelf piece/toy for my son. In the coming months I will be ordering an ATA kit and will most likely start a build thread in the Hope's of recieving helpful insight as I progress

That's what we are here for, "troopers helping troopers" as you have found research is the key. I have ATA and couldn't be happier, be one of the thickest armor's out there, scissors won't cut it and I find using a Dremel cutting disc and sanding drum to be the best method for trimming. I knw ATA wait times have been reduced significantly so hopefully we will be seeing some BBB photos from you soon :D

So I was putting together a shopping list of other items I am going to need and was wondering if these boots would do the trick

They don't have the right look on the side elastic, appears to come down on front at an angle, should be a little rounder like below. Also look at the height of the boot, you need these to sit inside the shins, many boots have the lower ankle ;)

I am not sure if the ones I am looking at will work, but I have been considering looking at these myself.  The CABOOTS I have are awful for anything longer than an hour when wearing.

They looks good but again, "consider the height of the boot, you need these to sit inside the shins ", to have a good reference you can look at this Boots

I see what you mean now.  I didn't notice how much lower they looked until side by side with one from your link.   Although this link has no reviews so i would be reluctant to buy from there.  Thanks!

What I actually did was take those photos and look for a local Shoemaker . He made them similar and made of genuine leather . cheers

Yeh, if you want boots that have the correct shape for a stormtrooper , these days , imperial boots are about your only ( and best) choice.

They ship swiftly and are a reputable vendor .
