Hello from Newfoundland

Recommended Posts

Since Star Wars first showed on the big screen way back in 1979 it was part of my life in one way or another.  From action figures to the vehicles, the costumes at Halloween (back then they were horrible by today's standards) growing up it sparked the imagination.  Then as an adult the revival of it all with the series restarting and eventually continuing the story past what we already knew from the first 3 released.  The novels, comics, the old and new characters fanned the embers of the passion that never died completely.

I always thought about making a stormtrooper armor set but my skill was vastly overshadowed by imagination.  What I envisioned was beyond my reality to make.  The other day I chanced a purchase on a good deal even if just its basic appearance (not accuracy) was a start.  I am awaiting its delivery today or Monday and in anticipation I reached out to the local garrison to say hi, introduce myself and let them know I will need their input on if I made a purchase that will work or need modifications or if its destined to be turned into a zombie stormtrooper while I continue to work on getting an accurate version.  No matter what happens they all said I need to come check out here as the definitive spot to find info on the trooper.  One said "There is more information there than anyone even realizes".

So here I am, saying hi and warning that I am going to be picking minds and pillaging information already here...and the Empire has a new recruit.

Hi Allen and welcome to FISD. Your local garrison is right, here you can find a lot of help on building your armor.

If you have bought it already, It should be good idea to post your unboxing photos and receive feedback here.

Hope you can achieve your goal of being a trooper.  Meanwhile, you may want to check this forum section

Welcome to the true home of shiny white armor, Allen!   Great to hear that you pulled the trigger and bought a set of armor, and no matter who the maker is we are here to help every step of the way.

Depending on where you got it, some kits found online may need modifications, but we can assist you in finding the correct parts if needed.  As you may have noticed, there is an absolute ton of information to be found here so there will be some serious research involved.  Don't let it confuse you, though!  If you have any questions (no matter how small) or difficulty finding something just ask.

The link to the Getting Started page Mario added will answer many of your queries, and it is probably a good idea to check out some of the build threads.  Assuming you are going for the classic TK (ANH Stunt) here is a link that will help get you started:

https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/80-anh-build-threads/

Under my signature below are some links that may help as well.  Best of luck on your TK journey!

Hi Allen and welcome aboard future Trooper!

Have a read in the “Getting Started-Read this First” section, as there is some really good info in there for new members.

Then, have a read in “Costuming and Builds” section to discover other troopers who are building (or have built) the same armor as you! Really good tips, examples, pictures, previously answered questions, and successes here.

In addition to looking at all the various build threads, I highly recommend checking out the “Advanced Tactics” section where you can see examples of those who have taken their armor to the next levels of screen accuracy (EIB and Centurion).  I’d recommend that you aim to build to one of the certification levels, as TK’s look their best at these levels. It's really not hard to acquire EIB or Centurion, and it’s best to do during your build rather that after.

If, and when, you’re looking for other bits –and-pieces, accessories, boots, blasters, electronics, etc., be sure to check out the “Imperial Commissary/PX” section for items for sale, project runs, and for other stuff that most of the troopers use.

Also, make contact with your local Garrison. They’ll help guide you through the process of becoming a member of the 501st, and may have local Armor Parties in the works where you can get hands-on build advice and guidance, not to mention meet members of your future Garrison.

So, start a build thread here on FISD; post lots of pictures and questions. We are all here to help you out and to make sure you look your best, and represent the 501st as best as possible.

All the best on your TK journey! :dancing-trooper:

Welcome aboard!  As others have suggested, I highly recommend starting a build thread- even if you do end up with a Death Trooper (the original zombie troopers) out of it, it's a great place to get feedback and build assistance and tips.
