Hello! My name is Shawn and I live in Pittsburgh, PA.  I am really excited to say hello after spending the last week plus reading through the wealth of knowledge on these threads. Looking forward to that BBB day and getting started on my ANH Stunt TK from Mark at AP. Thanks for all that you do and the support you offer to your communities! I have been so impressed by our local Garrison in supporting our local non-profits and charaties.  Thanks also for all of the information posted on here and your responses to help others interested in builds. I couldn't be less handy, but I am a little more confident to get started now with what is at my fingertips on here. Keep up the good work! Shawn

Welcome to the FISD, Shawn.  And thank you for the kind words.

You'll be happy with the AP kit.  There are many ANH Stunt build threads for AP here... so like you mentioned, lots of good info.

Don't worry about not being handy - many of us had never done anything like this before our first build - and many of us managed to build to Centurion level.  By the way, I highly recommend building to the highest level (Centurion).  It really isn't that much more work when you do it from the get-go.  Plus, the experience is incredibly satisfying.

Start a build thread anytime.  It is a good place to ask questions about supplies and generally getting ready for BBB day.

Congrats!  The fun is about to begin!

Welcome! Wait till BBB. you will forget everything you ever read and ask why your doing this lol. But don't worry, once that first cut is out of the way, it all comes back to you and we will get you through to approval.

Hi Shawn and welcome aboard future Trooper!

Have a read in the “Getting Started-Read this First” section, as there is some really good info in there for new members.

Then, have a read in “Costuming and Builds” section to discover other troopers who are building (or have built) the same armor as you! Really good tips, examples, pictures, previously answered questions, and successes here.

In addition to looking at all the various build threads, I highly recommend checking out the “Advanced Tactics” section where you can see examples of those who have taken their armor to the next levels of screen accuracy (EIB and Centurion).  I’d recommend that you aim to build to one of the certification levels, as TK’s look their best at these levels. It's really not hard to acquire EIB or Centurion, and it’s best to do during your build rather that after.

If, and when, you’re looking for other bits –and-pieces, accessories, boots, blasters, electronics, etc., be sure to check out the “Imperial Commissary/PX” section for items for sale, project runs, and for other stuff that most of the troopers use.

Also, keep in contact with your local Garrison. They’ll help guide you through the process of becoming a member of the 501st, and may have local Armor Parties in the works where you can get hands-on build advice and guidance, not to mention meet members of your future Garrison.

So, start a build thread here on FISD; post lots of pictures and questions. We are all here to help you out and to make sure you look your best, and represent the 501st as best as possible.

All the best on your TK journey! :dancing-trooper:

Welcome Shawn. Glad you are already started the process and awaiting the BBB. You are in great hands to build your armor with so many experienced builders here. Jus keep reading up, plan the build as best as you can so you build with enough confident and give yourself time to review and ask questions before doing the stuff that you might have reservations about. Great having you aboard and best of luck with your armor build when the kit arrives. Don’t forget, ask away in the meantime as well. Also seriously consider building your armor towards EIB and Centurion standards so you don’t have go back and change things later on if you decide to apply for those levels.

Hello Shawn,

Welcome to FISD. Just as others have mentioned, research, read the build threads, and take it slow (think twice, cut once).

Nothing beats the BBB day! Hope you will have a good one.

Welcome Shawn!

Take a look at the screen capture pics for build references.

Here’s the CRL for ANH stunt.

if you’re interested in achieving L2 and L3 build designations, look at the EIB and Centurion threads for reference.

Hi Shawn! Welcome to FISD and glad you’re doing your research. Don’t worry, I’m not very handy either. All the resources here make it very doable...just take your time and ask plenty of questions. Also, check out the other AP build threads and it’ll help prep you for BBB day!
