Split this into a separate topic for you Kevin.

Kevin,

What assistance do you need for your sandtrooper? Did you check out the http://www.mepd.net/

They specialize in all things sandtrooper, but the armor is similar. Post pictures of your armor that you have.

Kevin we have split your discussion off into your own thread.  This is now your thread.

Well Kevin unfortunately this is a very expensive hobby.  Most of us spend well over $1000 on our stormtrooper armor from start to finish.  Building this armor can sometimes be not an easy task but you most certainly need the right tools to do the job.  I would try your best to play nice with the UKG because it will be extremely difficult for someone from another garrison to help you when they could be thousands of miles away from you.  My suggestion is, is to post some pictures of where you are at with your build so we can inspect it.

Kevin we have no issues helping but we aren’t Sandtrooper specialist so we don’t have all the knowledge. Start explaining the issues and we’ll go from there.

Well, if you are looking for armor, the Sandtrooper and Stormtrooper are essentially the same besides the drop boxes, knee plate, and ab buttons. I would check the vendors list to find trusted sellers of armor. Since you say that you don't have alot of spare money around, I would reccomend ATA. It is probably the cheapest armor that is quality and accurate.

Vendor list: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/11538-the-various-types-of-armor-and-where-to-find-them/

If you have any other questions or problems, just ask or describe them, and definitely head over to the MEPD (as others have said). They are the 501st detachment meant to specialize in the Sandies and other dirty troopers. Good luck! :duim:

Mate I’ve lost count of how many threads you have started, this hobby does take some research and I know I and others have been posting links to information that will help you, step back take some time to read what’s been posted and I’m sure you’ll do fine.

Home of sandtroopers is MEPD if you want to research that costume

Also reach out to your local garrison, you can search for your closest here

Good luck and hope to see you on the right track soon

I assure you that no one here is purposely trying to make you feel bad, Kevin, and you are always most welcome to ask us anything you like.  We are here to help, but you will get more replies to your questions if you keep them in one thread and post up all your photos (as many as you would like) there.

We can assist you in your basic build, but there are differences between a regular OT TK build and a Sandie build, which is where MEPD comes in.

Also, as Steve mentioned this can be a very expensive hobby.  I know of one trooper who spent over a year saving up for his kit, but it was worth it when he received his 501st approval.

Don't give up on your dream.  We may not be able to assist you with everything, but we will do our best.

Nice photos, Kevin, and it looks like you are on your way!  You have a lot of trimming to do, and for detailed pics and instructions on that I would definitely check out Tony's awesome build thread:  https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/35086-uswraths-anovos-tk-build-stunt/

I suggest that you keep going on the biceps, and then move on to the forearms.  (Nice job on that trim, by the way)!

Once you get the trimming and fitting done, you can move on to the strapping, but we can discuss that later.

My best advice at this point would be to take your time... I know you are eager to get it complete, but think of your build as a marathon, not a sprint.  Rushing things leads to mistakes, and always measure twice (or three times) before cutting.  You can always take more off, but putting it back on is a different story, lol.

If you are in doubt, always ask before cutting.

You will really only need a sharp razor knife, a straight edged metal ruler (or strip of metal about 50 cm long or so with a straight edge), blue painter's tape and sandpaper.  Safety gloves would help prevent any accidents.  If you know anyone with tin-snips they will help for cutting.

You will also need clamps when it comes time for gluing the pieces together.  There are also some other items you will need to finish off your kit, and hopefully you know someone with a garden shed full of tools you can borrow, but many of these items can probably be purchased at Poundland or Poundshop, so I would check there as well.

Here is a list of suggested items that will help:  https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31404-supply-list-for-your-tk-build/

Well, a couple of things are noticable to me:

1. You said this is white styrene. This is a cheap, flimsy plastic, and is setting off alarms that this is a poor quality recast.

2. The helmet has the wart on the top that is exclusive to RS and the armor looks strikingly similar to RS, so this further supports this being recast.

3. The pulls don't look incredibly sharp, so probably recast.

4. You stated that you do not have plenty of extra money, so cheap armor would stand out to you, and cheap armor is usually recast.

Based off of the pictures, price and the fact that it is styrene, and also that it looks to be recast from RS, I would guess that this is from MakerOfThings. So all in all, I would just say to get rid of it (please don't trick some poor sap who just wants to be a stormtrooper into buying this) or build it as a display piece and never troop in it. If this is MOT then I am sorry that you got stuck with a poor quality recast like most beginners do, but now that you are here you can learn and grow from your mistakes and eventually become a stormtrooper.

Was I right by that way, about this being MakerOfThings?

You could always continue the build and get some experience building and when you have a few bucks you can get a better set.

Our friend Kevin here has found me on Facebook. If I could ask one our awesome members from the UKG to reach out to him and help him. I steered him to UKG site and he is having issues either logging in or signing up.

I let him know help is in the area.

Do what you guy's do best.

Try one of the UKG English Garrison Contacts for help logging in:

Executive Officer chef1322@hotmail.com

Or use the UKG contact form

I don't think that is a Makerofthings kit, as they use ABS, but bear in mind that as long as it meets the CRL criteria it is good to go for at least basic 501st approval if built correctly.
