What do I need to get started? (Stormtrooper armor)

Recommended Posts

Digging through current topics is sometimes overwhelming, so I figured I'd start my own.

First off I would like to say that joining the 501st has been a long time dream of mine, though I've always found myself confused as starting out. I've seen ANOVOS and the armor they make, though they are fairly expensive for one as broke as myself. I intend on buying one eventually, but I was just wondering if there are other companies, or alternative methods I can employ, so as to get my own. For right now, I would just like to start off with some good old classic stormtrooper armor. Thanks for any and all answers!

Welcome, Camden!  There are a lot of armorers that sell kits that are less than what Anovos does.  When they first started out a few years ago, you could pick one up for around $400.00.  Now it has jumped to over $900.00, and their delivery times also started to run up to a year or more.  Coupling that poor communication got them removed from our "vetted sellers list"

Don't get me wrong, it's a decent set of armor, but there are better alternatives out there, especially for that price.

If you have any questions about particular makers (or anything else for that matter) just ask...  we are here to help!

Welcome.  Armour isnt cheap.  Dont buy cheap armour is a safe rule as well.

1. Find your local garrison. Someone there has hands on experience cutting and gluing plastic. They will help, and you need the local garrison anyways.

2. Stormtroopers are the omnipresent, most publicly recognized suit. Consider it a goal, but dont consider it a goal blocked by finances.  Start with an officer costume. Or crewman. Get into the 501st, open all the member only doors, and then put some credits aside for that goal.

Welcome!

I will be selling an Anovos kit, completely untrimmed, 100% complete.  It is an XL size, and with all of the soft goods (undersuit, belt, strapping material, etc.), Anovos is $1100.  I'll be selling for less than that, plus it would be shipped out immediately after payment.  Anovos takes over six months to get it to you.  If you are interested, let me know before I post it.  :)

Welcome Camden!

try to look in the For Sale or Trade thread periodically.  Forum members sometimes need to dump their untrimmed armor in a hurry.  You might get lucky!

in the meantime look for and gather stuff that’s within your means, e.g. tools, soft parts like the undersuit, elastics and snaps, adhesives or glues, etc.

and have fun in your research!

I also have a thread here that may help for supplies:  https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/31404-supply-list-for-your-tk-build/
