Shimbo’s WTF ANH stunt WIP

Those end caps are a bit big. They should be I believe 20mm. You should trim them down and move clips to touch them. Check the size of control panel. It could use a little sanding to even out wavy edge.

Locutis has some great info in the gallery. Check out the one for detonator itself. He also has measurement photo's in the RS suit section that shows size of caps and control panel.

You're doing great! Keep up the good work. And please for me and well everybody. Don't settle for basic. Think Centurion! and you'll get there. We'll help!

Rework on detonator is underway. Been doing some ab shim work in between. This is after 3 coats of abs sanded down with 150. Have 220, 320, 600, 800 and 1200 to go. Thought I’d get my licks in on ab shims before I go after the thighs.

great work keep up the sanding and it will be seamless!  A bit of ABS paint will go along way as well. Essentially its just very thin ABS paste mixure

Where can I get my hands on abs paint?! Won’t there be color matching issues?

Nice work on those shims! Once it's sanded down flush, hit the area with some Novus polish and it will be nearly impossible to see the seam.

I sure hope so, I’m not happy with how it looks but I still have a bunch of sanding to go.

You'll be surprised what some 2000 grit sandpaper and Novus will do. I've had a few cracks on my armor that would seem like the end, but adding backing material with some ABS paste over the crack followed by a good polishing take care of it every time.

Now the real work begins. I’m not looking forward to this in the least bit. Thank god there is an armor party coming up lol.

I’m going with the “no parking sign” method vs. using leftover thick cover strip material since it won’t be flush if I use the thicker leftovers. My 501st buddy’s are telling me they can match with paint. We shall see

Cover strip material would be stronger in the long run, especially in those areas that flex and open, Just watch the colouring too, looks like the sign post material is a little brighter than your armor, but your GML may not notice that ;)

Hell ya they will notice. Armor party buddies have convinced me they can match the color

Thigh shims underway(I’m going to notch the bottom of the thighs so ignore the ugly cover strip job)

To the right of the cover strip, 1 coat of abs paste and 150 grit sandpaper, long way to go but I think I can pull this off.

Alright, hopefully last of the in progress pics of the thighs, this is after 2 coats of paste then step down sanded down from 150 to 1500 then applied a very thin abs juice/paste. After this dries I’m going to hit it with600, 800 and 1500 again then Novus polish then we’ll see where I’m at. I’m thinking this may do it but we’ll see.

Wow that’s a lot of abs paste and sanding, just a tip but if you sand wet with a drop of washing liquid in the water it will help the sandpaper to last longer, that’s using wet and dry sandpaper of course  ;)
