Laura’s 2mm ABS ANH Hero TK build [TM] – aiming for Centurion

Hi guys,

Thanks for the advice!

Ill sand the inner boxes a bit more and if that’s not working a hot water bath will probably do :)

Before cutting the ab and the cod, Ill first test the whole armor to see if it’s really needed. Fingers crossed for no cutting. Ill send a photo once the armor is ready to ear.

Here’s a photo of the screws in the TD. What do you think? Would they work?

Ha and yes, thanks for the advice on the cover strips @TheSwede Was aware that they are waaaaaay to long – will sand/cut them down for sure, in this way it was a bit easier for me to glue them on.

Thanks again!

The screws look correct, but the ideal placement of the slips will be touching the bottom of the control panel and touching the end caps. You'll need to paint the screws black as well.

Thanks@lucnak :) Nothing has been glued on yet, so Im able to move the parts around, the caps arent fully attached to the pvc yet. Great to hear the screws are ok! Yay!

Hello again!
Another busy few days, almost getting there!

Belt:
Belt is finished – sanded the drop boxes a lot more and this really helped to fit the inner box. Also glued the buttons. I only have to align the snaps to the ab.

Thermal Detonator
Almost done – Glued the piece together and painted the screws, added some Velcro to the back of the clips so it won’t damage my armor. Only have to bend the end of the clips a bit more.

Chest
Glued the shoulder straps and strapping – have to align the straps to the ab.

Back
Glued the strapping – only have to align the straps to the kidney for minimal overlap

Ab
Split rivets are set and painted white – didn’t make them functional, since I think there will be too much pressure on it. So I glued the strapping separately

Also painted the control panels – the grey ones need an extra layer – also have to clean the edges a bit more

Kidney + Butt
Split rivets are set to the kidney and painted white, also added strapping to kidney and butt

Thighs
Riveted the ammo thigh box to the right thigh – painted them white

Shins
Glued the Sniper plate on – although think that it should align better with the ridges – what do you think?

Shoulder – Biceps – Fore Arms
All ready! Added the strapping – sanded the cover strips to the right size.

I did a test shoot (not with all the above changes) to see what would work and what not.  OHMY! How hard is it to get yourself dressed – so no not all strapping is strapped (chest to ab, back to kidney, shoulders to strap, thigh garter)

This weekend I hope to do a new one – outside with someone helping me :)

On my to do list:
-    Finish the helmet (ears, paint job, eyes, padding, mesh)
-    Redo the Sniper plate + add some foam to prevent overlap thighs
-    Complete strapping on chest/ab and back/kidney
-    Paint ab control panels grey + clean up edges and glue them on
-    Add the belt snaps and single male snap to the ab
-    Bend TD clips at the end
-    Create garter for thighs
-    Test all strapping for the right fit –
-    Biggest challenge to reduce black between kidney and ab – damn those hips – so work out should also be on the list.

Any feedback or recommendations are highly appreciated!

Stay awesome!

Your sniper plate is only a little off. I'm sure you'll get it in the perfect spot on your second try!

Looking good. Only thing I can see from what you posted is to watch out for sniper knee lock. It will try and sneak in under the thigh, so some foam to push the knee forward and the thigh back may be helpful.

Thanks @lucnak :)

Yeah I know right - When I glue them on they are good - but they start shifting in the dry process - Need to find a way to keep the corners in to place. Will give it another try tonight.

Thanks for the foam idea! Definitely going to try that.

Hi everyone,

This weekend was a crazy busy weekend – but I think I’m almost there and ready for basic approval.
I did another try in gluing the sniper plate, build/painted the bucket and did a first photoshoot. The photos are not that sharp, but think they give a good idea.

Things I would like to improve:
-    The gap between the ears
-    The thighs can go a bit higher

I would love to hear your feedback!

Looking great, Laura. :-)

Just a little thing that caught my eye. If you wanted, you could get away with losing some thickness off of the ears. Here’s an example;

Looks like clearance is just around the corner for you. Excellent build so far!

Looking good and I would say basic is a given:duim:

For Centurion you will want to close the side gaps, left in particular and watch the overlap of the backplate over the kidney, CRL says no or minimal.

Love to see nicely built TM armor so good job,  Centurion awaits you :salute:

Thank you so much@TheSwede :)

Yeah those gaps need to be closed - shimming is not really an option, dont think it would look good..so to the gym it is ;)
