REPORT: With a last minute offer of a lift into the city Ben, Liz and myself arrived at Stuart and Jerry's hotel around 7.30, thanks again Ben saved us a walk to and from the train station.

We contacted Stuart and he promptly came down the lift, half kitted up so it was a little bit of a shock for the receptionist, luckily Stuart thought it prudent to bring down a shirt to cover his more private sections. We all entered only to find we couldn't go any further, Stuart forgetting his room card which was needed to operate the lift, luckily the receptionist beleving he was actually a guest issued him another card. Up to the rooms, being quite small we dropped Ben at Jerry's floor then we headed up to Stuarts to kit up. At @ 8.15 we were all ready to go, would have been a little area except a uncoperative Aker kept jumping out. Down to the foyer to meet the rest of the hotel troopers then on to Forrest Chase to catch up with Peter and his Flocklings.

A slight amount of drizzle on our way there but luckily the rain stopped, we met Peter and his Flocklings then started shaking the trustly Guide Dog tin to rasise a few more imperial credits before the start of the run or should I say walk, posing for pictures with participents. Tex meeting up with us a little while later, unfortunately Jason had to pull out due to his wife being ill, hope she is feeling better.

After some of the other participents on longer 12km walks had started it gave us a chance to get to our departure point for the shorter 4km walk, that's quite far enough while wearing armor. While waiting we did run into one of the Guide Dogs and it's handler, we had a few photos with Stewie and gave him a pat. Who knows what time we actually started, seemed like an eternity waiting and hearing others being revved up and set on their way, finally our chance and away we went.

While heading over the start line we heard one of the announcers say "look Stormtroopers" next minute we could see all of us on the big screen so we all gave a wave and a smile lol.

A little slow to start off with, many participants bunching up in places, a few annoying ones, especially one Asian that was too busy instagraming her photos to keep an eye on what she was doing which almost saw her youngling be stepped on by a long legged Stormtrooper, this happened a few times as even though we overtook her she managed to get in front of us again, didn't miss her at all.

On a few occasions on the walk we did see cameramen running past us to try to get us on camera, some participants also getting photos, but as we told them you can have a photo but we aren't stopping.

Ben and I going at a comfortable pace left saw us slightly pull away from the rest of the group, then a flash of white out of the corner of our helmets and it was Stuart, longer legs than us, yelling to participants "get out of the way Stormtrooper coming through", with one look from Ben we decided he wasn't overtaking us so we kept pace, which meant stretching those legs a little longer than normal, feeling it today. Stuart did try to walk with Em for a lot of the race but just couldn't remain with her, seems the competativness gets to him and he has to go for it. Lots to see on the walk, lots of slow points, some bands playing, water stops, some more "get out of the way, Stormtroopers coming through", lots of participants getting a shock as we powered past.

Walk seemed a little quicker this year, probably becasue we knew what to expect already completing the walk the previous year, this time with the rain that had been around in the morning the grey gravel track around Gloucster Park had turned into a grey mud bath so lucky Stuart didnt wear his Vader, would not have mixed well with his cape, at least in Stormtrooper armor it's just a case of wiping off some of the mud.

While on the last leg it was decided we three would cross the line together, Vader on the previous year powered off just before the finish line, so Ben and I kept a watch to make sure it didn't happen again, but YES we crossed the line together with much excitement. Slow going to get through the crowd but we managed to grab some water and our particapating medals, then catch up with our friends from the Guide Dogs, we got there in the end. We had a few photos then buckets off and time for a well earned drink, a few minutes rest to enjoy fresh air on our faces then helmets back on as requests for more photos was made. Not long after the rest of our troop joined up with us so we had a group photo, some others with participants then we headed off to catch a bus back to the city.

Well we didn't take long to find an empty bus, many thinking it funny to have costumed people on the bus, unfortunatley we must have had a L plater as a driver, his fisrt day perhaps, he was jumping on the brakes, pulling off quickly and also letting every other bus in Perh pass him on the way back to the city, he was definatley frustrating. Unlike last year where we had been set down back at Forrest Chase, this year they set us down at the underground bus depot, great indoors so we missed the sudden downpour of rain BUT added more length to our walk back to the hotel,

Peter and Flockings heading off on the way back.

The odd request for photos on the way back, some we did but some we just couldn't, many of us just at the end of our energy levels and needing a rest and removal of costume.

While waiting at the front of the hotel for Stuart to catch up a worker from a nearby coffee shop asked if we could have photos with his staff for the exchange of free coffee, the sound of coffee was nice but just didn't have any energy left, Em being a mind reader appologised for us saying

sorry but we can't, we are well over needing a break, he understood so we didn't feel so bad.

Back in Stuart's room and time change, unfortunately my red poweraid had leaked through my cooler bag on to the carpet, I tried cleaning this with one of Stuarts amazing bum wipes but to no avail, it was there to stay, I did offer to pay for any damages if he encoured a cleaning fee.

We recieved a message form Ben, he didn't realise the time and had to leave as soon as possible so we bid goodbye to Stuart and Em and headed down to the lobby to meet Ben and start the trip home.

Our city hotel troopers heading out to grab a coffee, no doubt Stuart and Jerry with report on this in more detail.

CHARITY: Guide Dogs WA, just sitting under $3000 but with what we collected in the morning the total should increase a little

INJURIES: Liz found a blister on one of her feet.

CASUALTIES: Stuart's room carpet with a red stain.

ARMOR REPAIRS: Not armor but we will have to look at Stuarts Aker cables, seems one may be faulty.

HAPPY PEOPLE: Everyone, well except those not used to exercise.

UNHAPPY PEOPLE: Most having the odd ouchie or two, feeling it the following day though.

MISSION STATUS: Complete

That’s it - I’m starting to save some Imperial credits to come Troop with you - see you in 3 years and a 18 hour flight!
