The troops started arriving in twos and threes to suit up and start their reign of terror. Our illustrious point trooper arranged a raffle for a very special prize indeed..... The privilege, no, the HONOR of being able to put pen to paper to chronicle the thoughts, hopes, dreams and experiences of the fine denizens of the empire. Lord Vader himself was the lucky recipient and he was also awarded a chocolate bunny in what looked like to be a blatant example of favouritism to the boss. A groan went through the other troopers as their raffle tickets were not drawn and their hopes of immortalising the event were dashed forever...... As the troopers swept through the grounds on their mission to fill the plastic coffers of the empire (starlight containers), a ripple of excitement and outright AWE moved throughout the attendees of the fest that is Astro. Donations started off slow at first as the citizens of the empire were more interested in buying overpriced delicacies from the various cantina carts (i mean, 7 bucks for a donut with custard on top??? cmon!), instead of putting their spare change into the Starlight buckets, but a spurt of uplifting speeches from Stuart "we are collecting for the Starlight Foundation, EMPTY YOUR WALLETS!" caused a spurt of donations that may or may not have been fuelled by fear of a 7 foot Storm trooper yelling at them and brandishing his blaster. The Minister of science was also lining up to take a photo, but not before he was "persuaded" to put some folding money into the bucket. :-) Smiles and excitement were in large amounts as the citizens gathered to have their photos taken with the baddest guys in the galaxy doing good. The jawas were up their usual shenanigans and an officer got a little too close to Chewbacca in attempting to put binders on him and paid the price in the form of a good old fashioned Wookie hug (strangle) A Tie Pilot is also facing a large fine and possible disciplinary action after illegally parking his Tie Fighter in the main entrance to the event. The light winds and cool weather kept heat issues to a minimum so trooper comfort levels were better than normal A special mention to Treacle the dog for keeping everyone's hearts warm despite the chilly weather.
