First ever blaster build using Doopys, Tino’s kit and hopefully lots of luck!

Recommended Posts

Bit more done today...green stuff on sight guard and knurled, also added some to the sight block so I can shape it better when it’s set. On to sorting out the end cap and D ring now 3c3080deff793c12b7af57d857498678.jpg7a0c0deaf42ecd3a90e5182865303a42.jpg13da0bd805123c5003ae0afc8c9659f7.jpg

Ok, so I got a little frustrated with the very slow progress and I claimed from the start that I wasn’t going to try break any boundaries with my build. With this in mind I decided to start putting the pieces together and worry about painting later. Tonight’s progress as follows 5402be780f730f11c3d856a61ff2dfd3.jpg7cbc3b18000fe33fcaa96dd6be64c47f.jpg81402701b18496ca07b38bc07c97ee6d.jpg86f7452562f5d4f363b281fbd9dc36e9.jpg

Thanks Jesse! I used two in the mag and two in the housing. Had to get my head round installing them the right way round because of polarity. Would be just my luck to get them stuck in only to find they repelled rather than attracted! I made the trigger guard out of a thin piece of aluminium I managed to scrounge from the mechanic at work..I’m really pleased with how it turned out.

Roger that, two and two. Ah, the trials and tribulations of builds; making mistakes is part of the process. I seriously would have given up along time ago if it wasn't for green stuff. I'm on my third pack! Ok, I"ll stop staring at your trigger guard about now lol

Nice work! I plan to install the completion set magnets as well for my magazine. How many magnets did you use for each piece? I'm loving that trigger guard by the way; wish I made mine that accurate and perfect!
I used two in each as well. Also like Wayne, I had such a headache getting the dark things the right way round with blaster polarity!! Plus they kept snapping together, such a nightmare lol

Haha! Exactly the problem I had! When I finally got to fitting them the first time I’d got the polarity wrong. Then I had to try pull them back out of the green stuff, clean them off and try again

Forgot I’d fitted a sight pin too! Had to make my own as I haven’t got a clue what I’ve done with the one that came in Tino’s kit! Think I need to push the grub screw in a little further...7bf59c81b779bc63b73cde2ff439a1c2.jpg5e40913c20db32e66350c0c924fa662f.jpg

Morning all! Struggling with the scope rail today I’ve cut the rear part out but can’t work out how far from the other end I need to mark the bend?

Have you fitted the rear sight yet? Essentially, it’s going to be the distance between the hole at the front end that the rail sits in, and the gap in the rear sight. :-)

I’m also confused about how it fits to the rear sight. I’ve cut the rear end to sit in the sight, thinking that it sat on the raised bit? But, when I look at the reference pics it shows the raised bit of the sight two different ways round? I’ll put up some pics and hope u can understand what I mean.df9e78e557842fb681ab07c7b601b3f1.jpg4958f6339342fc3451200960359a7ccd.jpga4a261393abd001dde2a9a0235d9393d.jpg

Sometimes better to bend and cut the front of the rail then scribe and cut the back to suit, if you have enough length on the front you could do this and recut the back

A few reference pics from my build which might help. Thing I did the bendy end first then the rear sight end.

Also, be careful how long the bendy end is. Mine was too long first time round and it blocks the inner tube. Then I chopped it down too much and it wouldn't hook and stay in, had to glue it in the end!837c36238fa4cec4d2b2b86f2e36b5ef.jpg3cc25b85d1deca0301247ce5481c91af.jpgec58be6e6a93ec183171a04bc2b717b5.jpg7de7408324b85ba35e9759adf110d725.jpg560080ba5b3f3d9d0e9af9aaac16e786.jpg698b820ecfd5ee0702ab71f2d182c34f.jpg

Nice one! I think the reason I’m getting confused is because I’ve seen somewhere that the rail is 10mm above the receiver? But the rear sight where the rail fits doesn’t sit 10mm high and as such the rail won’t be level?

Does this look about the right height?02cd0e9d2b0abca50f29bd1d86668a5b.jpg

Looks fine to me! I've not heard of it having to be 10mm high, though I could be wrong about that

Mine sits about the same heightc01bebfb0a9c94686d5877f65526c288.jpg1f48752141a6a4eca16615d7ddf84e9c.jpg

Not sure if you’ve mounted it yet, but, the scope can be mounted to the back in a couple of ways.

If I’m reading the blaster ref correctly, the top option, ie no bend on the back end of the scope rail, is proven to be screen accurate. The 90degree option is not.

Regarding the height of yours, looks good to me. :-)
