Report

We trooped the Kids Kottage (with R2 in tow) right before Christmas. The Kids Kottage is an emergency shelter for children needing somewhere to stay atter being removed from thier homes for abuse/neglect/other bad stuff. Nothing puts a smile on their faces more than seeing a bunch of 'bad guys doing good'. We took photos, (attempted) to play some basketball, and handed out swag. Great way to wrap up the year.

#6. Amplify Life "Bowling is Lotsafun" Fundraiser - National Bowling Stadium - Reno, NV

mh1CLts.jpg

This past weekend my and some fellow Empire brethren went to help and raise money for a great local charity, Amplify Life, that helps to send special needs children up to Lake Tahoe to camp in the summer at Camp Lotsafun (they do a lot more than that, too!). We've trooped the camp before but this is our first time trooping the fundraising event that helps pay for it all, "Bowling is Lotsafun".

#9 - Reno Aces Star Wars Night - Reno, NV

Report

This was the fifth annual Star Wars Night for our local MiLB team and the first I've gotten to participate in as a TK. We had a very large trooper attendance - over twenty CCG members total, most of whom made the trek over the Sierra Nevada mountains to join us.

The crowds were not as large as last year due to a bit of rain, but thankfully the rain subsided shortly before the game started. Even so, there were still several thousand people in attendance. If anything, the breeze and cool weather was a blessing for us, as it made the 5+ hour troop much more bearable than in years past.

#10 - 2018 Great Reno Balloon Race - Reno, NV

Report

This was my first year trooping the Balloon Race, but we have trooped this event on and off for about a decade now. Each year gets bigger and bigger. This year we had nearly 30 troopers on Saturday, representing CCG, NCG and SCG. Friday and Sunday are much quieter by comparison as it is usually just the local troopers.

We had great weather all three days (no smoke or wind, thankfully!) and even though it was busy the troop itself went smoothly. Looking forward to 2019.
