Crap! Don't watch movies while you work. I measured 1" for the angles instead of .5". Looks like I'll be using the other belt.

EDIT: Ha! Patched it back together with acetone and scrap. It's not perfect, but I think it will be fine.fd6e10d331b41d4e37a88613dcbf37c4.jpg&key=c11143bb8adb6ccdfa6a3f2a78c8a9f61561def688adf466cba11e8ebbaec76f

Installed S Snaps and 3 1/6 Chicago screws for the belt, based on ukswrath's guide. And that's where the issues began.

Besides a lot of waiting for various parts to arrive, I wasted an awful lot of time and money triyng to drive snaps through the cloth belt, only to remember that mine has thick plastic inside, and it's not gonna work. So, I'll be using white velcro for this belt.

After this I'll be cutting the legs, something I've been putting off for a long time. Then I'll move onto either doing the more "cosmetic" stuff (ab buttons, belt buttons, drop boxes) or re-doing the side straps; I had a snap come undone and I'd also like to make it tighter so there's no gap.

A small punch is great for making holes in plastic and tough belts ;)

Nothing worse than waiting for things to arrive in the mail

I got the holes, but I believe the belt is too thick for the snap to set properly. I would get it punched down, but it wasn't "snagging" and would fall off.

Oh well, the velcro should work as a temporary hold until I can figure it out. It's not a total waste as I will be using the snaps for adding the cosmetic male snap to the abdomen.

Depending on what brand of snap they can be different post lengths. Came back with three packets from the same store and each packet was different in post length, really annoying  Had to save some of the longer posted snaps for those to be added cosmetically to the armor just in case I can no longer find them.

I'll have to look for longer lengths! I made the mistake of buying the same kind ukswrath bought without thinking about the plastic belt thing.

It's nice though; no sagging or anything.

Continuing to do cover strips, a couple mm larger than they should be, but they're all even. Attached the sniper plate (incorrectly I'm sure) and it looks like I need to trim the ammo belt. Honestly, I'm not really sure how to do it in a good way.c98dc7b4320713e54179605df4939950.jpg&key=4b9ca04cc4689b00c6ca1252b5990fb460630daac723ecd67cc1a479bb9d40ad02271e0311114df22971abdca9234e37.jpg&key=2e60377d393d4dc410af32bf47857ef11b4b01db9206f3c9aa6d3d0daaa57796ef3892a03beb8db792b8c49cfd26912b.jpg&key=172f0f3b32e1bc0b3cea00691830659a2a2df18a142109fa17dd600507d39f4b

When ever in doubt check the gallery section, you will find a section just on the knee strip ;) https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/gallery/album/23-knee-ammo-pack-a-new-hope/

Yeah, I've been looking at some photos of the original screen armor. I'm more concerned about making straight cuts on curved plastic! I think I will use the snips and then sand any uneven parts.

When ever I want straight lines on plastic I use a metal ruler and clamps, then mark with a pencil, I trim with a Dremel with a cutting disc and use a flat sanding block along the cut line to make sure it is straight.

A sanding block can be as simple as a block of wood with sandpaper wrapped around ;)

Just for fun while I wait for inner strips to dry, here's the (budget) Doopy I've been working on. It's a pretty self explanatory build, but a tip I would give is the same I would give for my GunPla builds: Tamiya makes fantastic paint!3a2cdbb1956a30df278b7377f08e8e65.jpg&key=a68fc0f2876f21fbc5f7c864d60c6f0acfa715268bd2a2cdb15179a8967253e7

So, one thing I've done throughout this build is try everything on periodically. It's fun to try it on of course, but it's also good for seeing how everything is working. Tonight, I finally got to try on all the major pieces. The right thigh snap came undone though (my fault), but otherwise this is the general setup with some notes:

- Still need to do the belt buttons, ab buttons, drop boxes, holster, thigh ammo. Didn't want you guys thinking I forgot or something default_smile.png

- Still need to add more connections to the side of the butt; I hate how it rides up.

- Boy I wish i could see

Everything seems okay. I can go up and down stairs (only got a bite once) and I can hold my blaster properly. Only thing I really dislike is the sniper plate pressing against my knee.

Thanks, I was following his AM thread but I'll check this out :)

My belt looks like this. Trying to decide on the corner radius. Think it will be okay to eyeball it?

Measure from the back of the thighs before you cut. You are going to want to heat form the plastic before you cut, use the hot water or heat gun method.

Sorry, if i have to say that, but the picture and the measurements are wrong with the belt.

1. The angle in the corners is 90 degree, not 45.

2. A half of an inch is nearly 13mm. If that is so and the angle is square, the measurement on top of the belt is also 13mm and not 10mm.

I know the same picture in inch measuements and there the figuring is wright.

Greetings

Wolfgang

The mm is wrong that is right. The cut should end at the canvas belt. But the 45° angle is right, it is not the angle before cutting but after the cut (dotted line) as far as the CRL goes the 45° cut is what is needed. The actual distances are connected to the belt.
