Hospital Visit Suggestions

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow troopers.

In a few hours I will be visiting a children's hospital for the 1st time.

I know not what to say... "how you doing?" "when are you getting out..?" etc... But out of habit I say a lot of the things we aren't supposed to say.

Any help or suggestions on how to make this visit fun for the kiddos would be appreciated. It will be me and 3 other tk brothers visiting. I will try and get photos of all of us before we see the kids and post a fun mission report. I hope.

All the best!

Just understand that you are a big part of their day to "forget the norm." When I visited, I used a lot of "Hello". Some will recognize you... some won't, but all will appreciate you being there. Just be yourself and take things slow. It was definitely a different experience for me as well. This is why we do what we do brother!

Hi guys,
Great work. The kids must have loved it.

Out of interest, what DID you say in the end? I’m yet to get my clearance so, based on your first post, I’d love to hear how it went for you. :-)

I said a lot of "Greetings from Lord Vader and the Empire"  "Nice to meet you." "It has been a pleasure." Etc.

Did you know how many kids you were visiting in advance?  I'd like to take some things to give to the kids, but I am not sure how much or what.  (I have a childrens hospital troop next week)

No. We didn't know until the day of. We had a child-life staff member escort us around the rooms the entire time. It could be 5, but it could be up to 30. There is no way of knowing. At least in this particular troop.

For those interested. I posted an official Troop Log of the visit:
