Awesome job so far!! I'm waaaaay behind! It doesn't help to live in an apartment in the middle of the cold season/s. My girlfriend doesn't want me sanding in our place. :laugh1:

I'm taking notes on your progress as I may use a similar strapping system, including the magnets.

Keep up the great work! Looking forward to the finished armour.

Nov 19th weekend Update - --

Knee Caps

Its time to make strapping for the knees.  I followed a few other troopers having both the center velcro and a strap going around the back of the leg for additional support.

Here i took 1"x1" pads and seared the edges and hole with a soldering Iron.  Then sewed the elastic to the pads.

here is the back of the knee pads with the velcro pads

Where are you connecting your bicep pieces? I see snaps in them?

So under the shoulder bells, just about where the FO Insignia is, there is a single snap pad.   I ran a strap from the bell to the biceps.  Just helps keep them up.

Wanted to share last modifications before Submitting pics for approval

Chest - Adding Magnets
While i initially did snaps, it was nearly impossible to access them.  So after speaking with a few fellow FO troopers: Darren Vaughan and Kevin Snow they suggested Magnets.

Here i took ABS and using 1" PVC Strips, i adhered these to the yoke using Loctite Marine Epoxy:

For the Magnets, i used Loctite 60sec CA

I bought some D-profile Rubber weatherstripping and lined both the inside of the neck, around the chest, and lower yoke in hopes to protect the paint on the Abs and elsewhere.

For the Knee Gaskets, they were a bit too bulky, so i inverted them and ran a new stitch on the sewing machine then cut off the excess

Great job! I sooo want to get mine done but I still have a long way to go.  Started gluing in snaps!  Our garrison has armour parties this weekend, so hopefully I can accomplish a lot in the 1.5 days.

Thank you Daniel, Deo and Glen! Much appreciated.

As far as Submission, i have not heard anything back from my garrison CTG.  im only hoping that they have reached out to you here at FISD for assistance as we dont have any FOs in my garrison.  Hopefully will hear something back, but nothing as of now. :(

This is going to be my nth time saying great job! I just have one comment, or even a topic for discussion, is that the gap between the torso and cod/butt pieces should be covered by the belt. As you know, I'm still in the process of building mine but I plan to put 1 snap outside the cod piece and one outside the butt piece where the belt will snap to. In theory it will help cover that gap.

Another option is to place a snap front and back but underneath the torso and use either a webbing or elastic to snap it to the belt.

My main goal is to keep the belt as close to the torso as possible and hide that separation between the torso and cod and butt pieces. Anyone have other cool ideas?

Thanks a Mill DEO!   yes i unfortunately saw that the belt dropped a bit myself, hehe.  Im going to do the single Snap in the center as you suggested keeping the belt up.

Magnets?

Hi Brien,  I did a combo of Magnets, snaps, and Velcro.   Magnets on the Chest and Torso,  Snaps on the bells, arms and thighs, and velcro on arms, knees, etc

Wow - sweet lid!  If you can go specialist, you should be able to bang this out.  I can't wait to see how it develops.

Thanks Paul!!!  Fantastic to hear good feedback!!

Gents -  A note

After i took these submission pics, i did see a few items needing addressing

1) Belt in the front dropped, can see the top of the cod

2) Knee plates are too low, need to be centered

3) Spats need to be a bit lower as covering the pill holes on the shins

4) Upper arm Gaskets peeking out from under the biceps.

Im working on each of these items to address and any additional feedback is welcome.

Andy
