Beautiful work so far, Jesse!

I, too now have many pieces of toys randomly scattered about.   I am usually pretty good at ID'ing them, but I have no clue what that one is.

Keep at it!!
That's right! I cannot remember what toy this orange piece came from ... now I remember, inner workings of a dinosaur claw tool lol!

Small upgrade- got the clearing strip on the exposed bolt on. I trimmed the width a little bit of a large zap strap I cut to length. The underside of the strap has ridges so j used this side to take in the e-6000 glue. Also sanded the aluminum on the exposed bolt for better adhesion.

Cool stuff! Keep on going the great work!

Focus in the minucia continues - next up is placing the serial number on my exposed bolt. I also want to add a tad of green stuff to round off the two corners of the extractor/plunger housing. Thanks again for the good cheer!

Here's a quality picture from the reference guide....

Hi folks!

I've come back from a long hiatus! Life got really busy so stepped away from things to build over the Spring months and got busy in the Summer building a steampunk costume to go Halloweening with my kiddies. I pulled off custom boots, even gauntlets and also made-over a nerf blaster with steampunk color palette. A whole lot of fun but I digress ....

My E-11 Blaster! It's been a long haul, a fun one, but I need to finish!! With all parts painted and weathering and sealant clear coat remaining, I am assembling the various parts.

Rear of the Exposed Bolt

I scratch built my ROTEB (rear of the exposed bolt) to originally accomodate electronics. It is a bit odd shaped with an enclave that was to accomodate electronics coming out of the trigger assembly part. I placed some green stuff inside the enclave so to better stabalize the wood screw that holds the charging handle in place. On instalation, I dare not install the screw to close inside the handle because it narrows quite a bit.

Custom Barrel

I custom built a barrel to kinda look like the real-deal. As the doopydoos muzzel has the screws poking inside the reciever tube already, I had to pull back the support end from the front of my barrel and pulled it back to around behind the bayonet lug.

Spring Cup

I'm a sucker for trying to build my doopydoos to closely resemble the real sterling piece as close as possible. I made a spring cup to place inside the ROTEB complete with 'spring' inside. JK, I faked it with an appropriate gauge of solder and curled to correct OD shape.

ROTEB Stopper

I placed, what I'll call a 'Stopper' for the ROTEB. Again, fashioned to orginally accomodate electronics. I was sure to install the barrel first =)

Installing the ROTEB

Here is the ROTEB in it's semi-installed state. The whole shows where the wood screw will come up from to grab the charging handle and have it put in place.

ROTEB Cover

It was perplexingly fun to scratch build my ROTEB cover with clearing strip. Thanks T-Jay for your detailed post =) I cut numerous sheets of plastic to size / shape and glued with E-6000. Metallic paint on-top with the clearing strip sanded down to show wear. The end closets to the charging handle was rounded off so to accomodate the round bottom of the charging handle. The other end of the cover was made a bit short to mimic the lip of the spring cup.

Exposed bold Plate

My custom exposed bolt with extractor and plunger took a while to get right. Again, was made as a plate to accomodate electronics. I had to bend my alluminum piece just right so it sat recessed, giving the illusion that it can enter the reciever by showing off one mm or so of reciever lip. I refrained from attempting to put in serial numbers on my exposed bolt; didn't have the correct number sizes.

Up next ... Grip and Trigger Group Install

That's how my build stands at the moment. Grip and trigger group are painted and ready to get on to that reciever tube! Ah, this is the moment when the build really starts to resemble a blaster.

Thanks for dropping by; have a great day!!

Hi all,

Trigger group and grip ready for install onto receiver tube. Gloss black on grip to resemble rubber. Flat black on other components. Tricky to paint the fine line between black and metallic silver, finally happy with it.

Yet to glue the selector switch and trigger guard will sit correctly when installed on reciever.

I will need to do some final touches on the receiver tube before installation, stay tuned

Man, what an update! Okay, you had more than 8 months to come around with this. :D;)

No seriously, great to have you back, Jesse. And I am really glad to hear, your hiatus was 'just' life getting busy, but not because of any serious issues.

Looking forward to your next steps and to finally see this blaster completed...

Wow, great comeback :-)!

Did you use glue to mount the extractor?

Good to be in touch with you again. Yes, used glue, E-6000 - my preferred glue

At the finish line, for the SMG portion of my E-11 Blaster. It is a long time coming because I marvelled at every detail, trying to get things as close as I could to the real deal. I can't believe it's been two years since I started my build. Now it's my turn to put out some eye candy for you guys.

Four tiny earth magnets hold the exposed bolt in place, sufficient force those tiny guys have. This my yoda impression. Handy to have chosen aluminum.

I have a piece of foam closing out the hole I made at the top of the rear of the reciever. I made it to run a screw into the grip to hold that end in place firm. This will do for now.

Folding stock latch is functioning as is magazine release button with inlay underneath, though it doesn't release anything lol. Liking allot the functioning selector switch. This component took some time to install. Charging handle is working good, though I installed it a tad crooked - I am able to pull back on it thereby compressing the inner coils.

Did my best to get hammer style paint on the reciever and supplementary parts. Flat black on portions of the trigger assembly, and man, needed a steady hand to make sure the silver paint got on nice. Same went for the t-tracks, flat black with a steady hand.

That's my SMG portion of my doopy E-11 blaster, install of prop master components to come next.

Thanks for dropping by

That last photo reminds me of something. ;)

I really enjoyed following this build right from the start and can't wait to see you add the missing items to complete this crazy detailed beauty.

Do you really plan to troop with this blaster? Do do we get another thread soon with a separate build for that? :laugh1:

I've already printed and binded your work Tino - it isn't a far stretch to glean from your photography skills :P Oh, as for details, black washing of screws and 'eye shadow' still to add to that beauty of an exposed bolt sitting at the charging port.

It's been difficult to lay away the cash necessary to make the TK armor order; hope AP never goes out of business. For now, this blaster will settle my interest on things TK. B) But truly, once I reach the goal of being approved a basic TK, I will be exploring a more rugged alternative for the E-11, and my oh my, there are so many options now from rubber to 3D printed Blasters.

Hi all,

Made some good headway on installing my scope. Good Tino's completion set provided me with the right screws for the job.

Two larger screws from the completion set for the scope installation; a smaller screw for the installation of the Hengstler Counter. Smaller I think so the head doesn't hit the reciever tube when it's installed I think.

E-11 Reference states the rear foot of the scope to allign with the folding stock pivot, check. I ran out of time tonight to install the Counter. Oh ...oh, so close for the finish.

Now have that tiny bolt and nut to secure the back end of the scope rail.

Hi all,

I discovered thanks to Tino's second E-11 build thread that the rear of the scope foot is to sit flush against the scope rail on the right side. I accomodated by elongating my drilled holes.

Here is a picture of the rear scope foot in its final position. I also raised the sitting of my Hengstler Counter by about 4 mm. It was sitting a bit low to my liking before, with its bottom only 1 to 1-1/2 mm from the folding stock fork below.

Final prop master install - Power Cylinders. Chose to install it parallel to the reiever scope. Kept it close to the edge of the magazine well edge. I was intentional to keep the rear cylinders a few mm away from the magazine release button; to ensure it looked nicely laid out and not crouded.

Final position of Power Cylinders without the support guides looks good I think!

Here's a side shot of the blaster. Will follow through with some light weathering now =)

Final pictures to follow

Hi folks,

I have some final pictures to show as promised. The pictures are taken outside with natural day light. Maybe the variations in paint can be more readily seen this way.

You will notice I need to touch-up the grip; I had only hit the grip with a heat gun to cure the gloss black paint. As such, I think that is what caused the paint to wear off over light wear as it did. More coats will help as well.

And so hitting the nearly 2-1/2 year mark on this build; I can say I am thoroughly happy with it now. Here are some lessons learned. I had bit more than I can chew - trying to resemble it as close to the SMG as possible with custom builds of components AND getting BlastFX installed. Also to mention, with Tino's E-11 Completion set and a few of Chris's parts from Shapeways, I positioned myself ahead with quality parts as well. Especially so as I have not built anything like this before, I ultimately failed on the electronics install. For those looking to build, I recommend to set build goals based on your skill level and also set a deadline, or else you may very well stall on your build and make major mistakes, like I did. That being said though, I had allot of fun and learned so much. I am also grateful for the FISD community who provided resources, tips, to me, you know who you are.

Thanks for following and have a great day!!

Congratulations on completing this truly exceptional E-11 blaster, Jesse.

Following your journey from day one, I can confirm that I have never before seen anybody making such a blaster with more effort than you. Of course this was meant in a positive way. No challenge was too big for you, no way was too far.

As for the build time, yeah, maybe you should get a fun-award for the longest build duration. :P;) Just kidding.

Thanks for the great final photos to drool over and also for your contribution to the Blaster Reference during this build.

I look forward to seeing this blaster accompanied with a nice suit of TK armor. Maybe that will be your task for the next 2.5 years. :D
