Many thanks, Chris. Need to get my butt into gear and finish my E-11. :-)

At about this point I realised the same thing.  Then did it in a few days lol

If you are finding things popping now, then double them up. Avoiding trooping malfunctions is key.

Cheers Brad. Yes, that's the plan. Checking which areas are likely to pop and double them up. :-)

Hi all,

I'm proud to say that I completed my first unofficial troop today in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. My work held a Macmillan Coffee Morning, raising money through bakes, coffees, games and a little surprise visit from a nearly finished TK.

Suit is not 100% yet, (note the missing thigh ammo pack), and my shins suffered the two flights of stairs I had to navigate. Will definitely be adding Velcro to the inside front of the shins. :-)

Self dressed, two flights of stairs and only appeared to suffer twisted shins. Really pleased to have helped raise some money for an incredibly worthy cause and bring some great reactions from my colleagues. :-)

Good evening.

Had some fun with the ammo pack rivets last night ... NOT!! ;-)
Didn't have exactly the right clamp so tried a couple of methods. My make shift use of a brick pin under the rivet and a hammer the other side left me with wonky rivets (not a recommended method, it turns out).
Ended up using a good quality g-clamp to bring them home, pretty much perfect. :-)

I used a large Humbrol tin for my corner curve.

I checked out lots of screen shots and noticed that a large proportion of them had a gap between the cover strip and the ammo pack. As such, I followed that look.

Drilled the holes with a 3mm drill and applied E-6000.

Apart from painting the relevant rivets and adding another coat to the boots, I think my armour is about done.

Cheers
Dan :-)

Hi all,

My armour is now compete. Need to get my blaster compete for UKG clearance.

My pre-clearance pictures raised two small areas to look at, namely the shoulder bridges covering a fair bit of the back plate, and my forearms possibly looking a little chunky.

Do I look Imperial? ;-)

Any thoughts or comments gratefully received. :-)

looking good trooper but would have to agree with you that the shoulder straps seem to be a bit long and also again with the forearms. Don't know if that effects basic clearance though. i would now start looking through the expert/centurion photo listing and start working through them quite a few shots required. Also which gets mentioned quite a lot if you haven't done it already add some felt to the clips on your TD saves your Armour when trying to position it :duim:

Weird how long the seem, they also look reasonably balanced front to back.

Did the armourer make a suggestion? Check with the AT team before but I suspect just cutting a ridge or 2 off and adjusting might be all you can do.

Looking good otherwise though.

Hiya.
Many thanks. I’ve built with Centurion in mind so hopefully I should be on track, especially when the straps and forearms are in check. Other than that, I think everything else should reach Centurion.
And thanks for the TD tip. I’ve gone with the soft side of Velcro to stop the scratching. :-)

Cheers, Chris.
I’m also a bit perplexed. Can’t lower the back plate as everything else will drop too low. Don’t want to lower the chest or I’ll get the Mark Hamill look (no offence, Mr Hamill). I’m thinking that going from 4 to 5 notches at the front might be the best option. I’ll wait for the armourers or GML’s suggestions first before I go prizing bits off. ;-)

Did you diagnose why your shins were twisting?

Hiya.
I guess it’s just how the shins sit on my legs. I’ve now added Velcro on the front tab of my boots and have poppers on the rear tabs. They now seem very stable. :-)

Hi all,

So, I reduced the girth of the forearms but was displeased with the join around the back. Here’s how they joined:

The left arm was the worst one, so I decided to take it apart and move up the back/inner part of the forearm.

Although it wasn’t glued at this point, the join at the back would now be nearer, thanks to trimming the wrist end and top end.

And here we are. I’ve now been given the green light to go for clearance as soon as my blaster is ready. Much happier with the complete look now. :-)

(Only a quick kit up for the arms - no TD, neck seal, butt had come loose etc)

Hi all,

Just a little update for anyone that’s been following. I’ve not disappeared; just been finishing off my E-11. I’m now into the latter stages of painting and will hopefully be complete within a couple of days. I can then finally apply for clearance with the UKG, then EIB followed by Centurion.

Regarding EIB and Centurion, looking at many other applications, I’m very hopeful that my complete kit is already ticking all of the boxes. Of course, only time will tell, however if anyone has spotted any concerns, please let me know. :-)

Hi all,

The magic moment when the email reads...

“Congratulations! Your costume has been cleared for trooping.”

I’m hugely proud to confirm that I’ve been cleared for trooping!!! I might be a little excited right now!!!

Thanks to everyone that helped along the way.

Next up - EIB and Centurion. :-)
