darthmaul101079[TK]
Quick question before I begin my TFA build. I am kicking around on using rare earth magnets instead of velcro for like the clamshell in the shins, spats, and possibly the forearms. Has anyone used magnets in such a way? Thanks! camprandall
I've tried it in a number of applications and have generally found it to be not a great option for anything that undergoes stress. If it's just to keep a cover plate on a belt box or things like that, sure. If it's something like shins or forearms that undergo stress as you move, the magnets really don't stand a chance unless it's a more complex magnet + socket type locking system.
gmrhodes13[Staff]
Agree with clint, magnet do occasionally let loose but have had no issues with Velcro.
Dakari[TK]
I have magnetic socket closures on my shins and ab's and they work incredibly well.
JAFO[TK]
I am using magnets in many ways - shins, yoke, ab, TD. Initial trialling is very favorable. I have a build thread going if you want to take a look Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
