M38 manual

I stole this off of eBay

It's in nearly new condition with a textured olive finish to it, I am assuming I will need to take this apart to remove the finish and give it a black paint. If this is the case does anyone have a manual fr the M38 so I don't break anything while I am at it?

Thanks

Ooh, crinkle finish on the scope. Wow.

No manual, but I pulled my M77C apart which should be basically the same

I got my inspiration and bravery from Felice. He had a nice thread. Maybe Usaeatt2 does too from memory... Bulldog44 might have too recently.

Hi Bob,

There are a few things to be careful of when taking these part. To ensure the inner ring parts will unscrew, you will need to see if the tiny macro locking screws on the outside of scope can be loosened. You can see two on the outer side of the large scope end, two on the side near the scope single digit and two on the underside of the small lens housing end. These strip easily due to age so be careful. Don't risk it if you feel they don't loosen up.sometimes the inner parts unscrew without these locking screws being loosened. Without a proper tool, the inner parts can also easily be striped to damaged. Fieldmarshall is a pro at this and has made custom tool. He may be able to make one for sale, PM him. If you get the parts removed, that is great news. Any trouble with reassembling, just let me know. They scopes reassemble well but getting the optics to align precisely can be difficult. I took pics after each part and screw removal. Best to document each step so its easy to get it all back together and know what pieces where actually there.
I am making some crude assembly manuals for my scope kits now so they might be of some help.
