Looking good Tino.

I just completed my blaster rack yesterday (took me about 1 hour), but I might borrow that heat shrink tubing idea. Thanks :)

Ian, be careful with that heat shrink tube. In my case it went bad: a paint flake from the rear side of the grip (sprayed 2 years ago) suddenly sticked to that tube and revealled bright DoopyDoo's-resin

Filter looks cool, nice idea recycling that. Really adds that imperial interior feel to it.

Thanks Brian, just felt this area in the rack to be a bit boring without anything there :)

Looking fantastic!

I totally agree with you on this ^^. Too often we can ruin something great by having too many details. Great job! :)

Glad to hear you like it, Aaron ^_^

Ah bugger. That's no good. I only had enough to do half my hooks. Ended up just using thin foam.

Sieht wirklich gut aus.

Michael, you should really think about building something similar and liberate the blasters in your basement from those boxes. They surely haven’t deserved this…

This looks awesome Tino!

Thanks Roger. Have you meanwhile received your blaster kit? Curious to see your work on that with the completion set. If it will be the same high quality as your T21 build, then this will be something to watch…

Can you pass on your measurements and material listing? Would love to build this for Con setup.

Yes Robert, I had offered to provide this information if anybody wants it. Very busy at the moment, but will soon tackle this...

Super Tino! Truly blown away by how great it looks, and even better with all your blasters now on display and with all your other treasures on the bottom shelf. Gotta build one of these for sure. Bravo!

I have a gunrack already. It´s in the back of my cinema, right next to the door:

It´s made for 4 phase pistols and 2 phase rifles.

I have just no idea where i could display so many blasters, they would visually dominate each room.

Thanks Brian, your scope with hollowed core and Andy's power cylinders are my favorite items in that lower shelf. Still glad how it looks in that display case :D

Wow Michael, now you make me feel embarrassed for posting my poor side-project. It is nothing compared to your work in that room. :shok::peace:

Did you know your power cylinders fell off, on the one on the right?  ;)

Good eye, Ian. Currently one blaster is still in progress and was just good enough to take these photos. It will soon get finished. No hurry... :P

Update #04      - Measurements

As promised, here is a little drawing from this rack. All measurements are provided in “cm” (1 cm = 0,3937 inch). Shape and dimensions are totally up to the builder. The only important thing is, the distance between the centers of two E-11 should be a minimum of 15 cm. One single blaster requires a width of 13 cm on the magazine side plus 7 cm on the other side. Each additional blaster adds 15 cm to the total width. The edges on the side panels were cut at 45 degrees, a-edges are 2 x 2 cm, b-edges are 4 x 4 cm.

In the last update I had forgotten to mention that each blaster in this rack is held vertically by the two horizontal supports with the cut-outs for end caps and folding stocks.

By flipping these two parts from left to right, this rack should be (somewhat) compatible to the F-11D from Episode 7. Not sure yet but theoretically it could work…

Update #05        - A nice find

Didn’t expect to deliver another update on this blaster rack, but here is something that might be worth being shared. At work I recently came across a 19-inch cabinet, which had been sorted out. It was old and still in good condition, but had to be disposed. After taking a few measurements, I saved it from the trash compactor and brought it home.

Looks like the internal design was inspired by the Death Star. As I am posting these pictures here in the Gun Rack thread, I guess most of you will already know, what this cabinet is going to be used for… :D To modify it for this purpose, all internal parts had to be removed.

36102201455_b68eba3dcf_o.jpg

A few months passed by and it took a happy coincidence to get hands on appropriate side panels and a glass door to be added to the existing back door.

The standard bi-color scheme of these cabinets was not perfect, so I checked some screen references from the Death Star to find a suitable paint. More difficult than expected, because sometimes it looks dark and in other shots (from other sets) it appears surprisingly bright, even with a bluish tone.

Both, the RAL 7001 and RAL 7037 looked very interesting, but I had to decide for one. I picked the brighter color, because the cabinet is located in a place with no direct sunlight and the look changes heavily depending on the lighting. Painting already started, but I am still a bit unsure about this choice. Any comments or help on this?

Have a nice weekend

Update #06        - A massive problem

Got a RAL CLASSIC color fan and picked the cards with grey tones only. Out of 35 shades, I ended up exactly with the one I had. The last two photos highlight the difference between daylight and electric light. Both are taken on a background painted in RAL 7001.

36584900856_07f32fa4d5_b.jpg

The paintwork was very time consuming. Each part had to be sanded, dusted off and painted twice - on both sides! With drying times of at least two days, this took a while…   And the ventilation slots in the backdoor really were a pain.

36493424011_696e7f1f18_b.jpg

The cabinet itself got painted in the same color. And when all parts were ready, I finally began to complete the puzzle.

Prior to adding the front door, I made wooden inserts for bottom plus roof and installed simple mounting brackets to support the gun rack.

Fits like it has always been made for this ;) Was pretty happy with the result and moved on to the last step, adding the front door. This update is named “A massive problem” because just when I thought I am done with this project, it almost made me cry out loud: that door was 5 mm (0.2 inch) too tall. Nooooooooo…!!! :sSW_deathstar:

36493423311_58d10c87c2_b.jpg

Even with all washers removed, it still was too high. :6: Thought about cutting it to size, but the door is symmetrically to rotate it for left and right use. So this option would be lost. Have to think about a solution now…
