Shoretroopers are TK, not Scout. *Confirmed*

Recommended Posts

Except that it is already an approved costume assigned to the Pathfinders Detachment.

Just mentioning, but so was galactic marines and clone scouts to ctn, and the heavy weapons trooper was once a mepd.

Except that everything is a TK. The 501st invented the other id codes. Snowies are TK in winter armor. Scouts are TK in light infantry gear. TX are special ops TK. All soldiers. Just different load outs.

That's really weird why were they assigned before the movie premiered and just based on assumptions. They are far from pathfinders.

Having a snout does not make you a scout.

This is going to be interesting to how the assignment goes now that this is the true designation.

Definitely a scout to me in its look and inspiration. I mean, look at the helmet, look at the chest plate... if you can't see the lineage, you're blind as a bat.

Pathfinders most probably wont change the designation to TK, it would get too confusing, I think it will remain ST, and we can poke fun at them lol :P

Yes, it does. And if you're black, and have a snout, you're spec ops.

Reminder that they are ALL stormtroopers. Just different armour. Would it be easier to just call everyone in armour TK? Yes. Would new members care at all? No. Would existing members care about two letters if the detachments still existed for swag and builds and shirts and photos with other TK snout troopers and other TK black armour troopers? Some would. Others, not so much.

Just leave my DZ alone.

Define pathfinders? In Canada they were descendants of British light infantry rifle regiments. Lived off the land, carried very little equipment, and we're both excellent shots and tacticians and still lost many troops behind enemy lines.

Biker Scouts...A misnomer...Are light infantry. First in. Decimated by teddy bears and rebels.

Shoretroopers...Run side by side with stormtroopers. They die faster. Because star wars armour is an intimidation tool for unarmed masses, not actually useful defensive armour vs blasters. They're not engineers. They may be hit and run specialists. After rogue one they got the same upgrades the empire did everywhere and new bikes. Fast attack light infantry. Scouts. Pathfinders. Recon. LRP. Same stuff different day.

Quite humourous(at least to me)..that after all the drama surrounding these guys, their role and the detachment which best suits them..the mad rush to get a CRL built and kits assembled...they ended up being kinda sucky! Like..really sucky.

That's the disappointing part, why are they distinguishing a detachment based on looks itself?

So now they are very similar to Sandtroopers, shouldn't they be in the MEPD?  :laugh1:

Some interesting info about the Shoretroopers.

Yup. They are nifty. Just like scouts. They get overrun, snuck around, and fall for ruses. Just like scouts.

And why by appearance? How else should we judge them. Cars are classified by appearance. Planes. People. Detachments aren't populated by appearance. There's red stormtroopers in spec ops. Deachments are populated by jobs. Fisd are infantry. I guess, Marines, technically. Jrs are naval aviators. IOC are naval officers and crew. DZ are for the most part, tattooine inhabitants. Bf ...hoth troopers and the GM who would have been the snowy ancestor ( There is a white GM). SL are...well...One of the Two. Pathfinders are exclusively scout variants and now the Pathfinder.

Let them shore...Get it...Shore up their numbers. fisd has plenty of members and costumes. And there will be new Stormie's every movie. Whee.

Interesting. So what the above scanned pages note is that what we see is not a galactic definition of the Shoretrooper armour, but that which is local and environmentally best suited to Scarif. What we see is a TK on rotation to Scarif wearing gear to suit local conditions: a "Scarif Shoretrooper".

Am I interpreting that correctly?

Yes, just like Scouts on Endor are troopers wearing gear more appropriated to ride a bike. Initially standard stormtroopers were supposed to ride those bikes:

Scouts are not regular Stormtroopers wearing light armor, they are trained specialists to hand different roles.

Whereby the Shoretroopers are just regular Stormtroopers swapping out armors for their duties.

Initially and what we see on screen are two different issues.

I'm not trying to argue, just find it weird that they are listed in the wrong detachment within the legion.

Some more interesting info:

SHORETROOPER

Patroling the luxurious world of Scarif, the shoretroopers are specialist elite stormtroopers. Owing to the highly specific nature of the postings, they are a rare sight in the galaxy. They operate at an effective sergeant rank, which means they are able to command stormtrooper squads.
