Left Side - Arms Up Close Up.  I added this since the far away picture I had forgotten to strap the front to the back.

The picture below I had to take the picture in a mirror so it looks like it is on the right.  It is actually the left side of my armor.

Hi Shawn

Any chance you can kit up and get two new side shots showing those gaps closed up a bit. As it is they look a bit too much.

Cheers

Way to go, Shawn.. GREAT to see another awesome HWT EIB submission!!  A few things that I noticed, not that they will affect this round, but hopefully you will be aiming for Centurion next, and you will need to bring your ABS belt up a bit.  It should touch the bottom (or even overlap a bit) of the main ab button plate.

And for aesthetic purposes, I would weather your pauldron to match that cool armor and pack.  Fantastic job, sir!

I seemed to be having snap issues yesterday. My belt also came unsnapped as well as my left side ab to kidney plate connection. Think i am going to need to replace these snaps. I will definitely weather my pauldron.

Andrew,

I will send new pictures.  but aren't we allowed to have a 1\2" or less opening on the sides.

For level two certification (if applicable):

  • Any gap between the ab and kidney armor is no more than 1/2" (12.5mm) wide. Any shims used to achieve this effect are of a similar material and color as the ab and kidney armor. Shims fit flush and seams are allowed.

What did you use to weather? It looks great!

Thanks.  I use black washable paint.  All you have to do is brush it on your armor.  Then take a damp cloth and pat off the part you do not want it on.  Takes about 1 hour to do everything.  The good thing is if you want to be shiny, you can wipe it off in about half an hour.

Good Luck Shawn! That is one badass HWT! Make those Sandies envious ;)

Sandies schmandies, LOL.  I probably shouldn't say that, though... A few of my friends chose that path. :P

Ok.

I have made all of the recommended changes to my armor.

I redid the snaps on the left side of my ab to kidney connection so the gap is closed to about 1/4".

I adjusted my belt snaps so the ammo belt is touching the bottom of both ab button plates.

I weathered the pauldron.

All pictures have been updated in the original thread.

Thank you for your input.

Wow....Just noticed something, Shawn.  The "vent" covers and bottom of the cone need to be painted with the "Silver Fox" color spray paint.  I will send you a partially used can free of charge, which will be more than enough to cover these areas.  Just PM me.
