bowski477
Today was riveting (pun intended) Should these gaps concern me?
sylverbard[TK]
If they appear like that with ears attached, yes. You could heat them up with a narrow heat gun or iron and press them into the ...indent. Edited August 27, 2016 by sylverbard
bowski477
I actually ordered an iron today so that will be good should I need it for that. Thanks!
Troopacoola[TK]
No. When you trim your ears to fit they will cover the gap Cheers, Marc
lucnak[TK]
Yeah ears will probably cover that up, but as Mark says, if you are still having a gap issue after attaching the ears, it would be worth heating a little (but be careful if you do!) bowski477
I worked on my ears today for what felt like forever. Still don't quite have them the way I want them so they'll have to wait till next weekend.

They still have tiny gaps when installed, but that adds to the screen accuracy Marc
bowski477
Hammering was not working out, so I went to Joann's this weekend and picked up this magical item. Worth every penny (with coupon!) Also might have one ear close to ok The other one is frustrating me. But at least I have tomorrow off to keep working on it.

The first ear will look fine once the bolts tighten the gaps up and I think the second would look good too http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61082 http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/index.php?/topic/38021-CTID's-RWA-ANH-Stunt-WIP......-501st-Here-we-go! http://www.ukgarrison.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=60937
bowski477
I was thinking the same CTID. I'm going to give it a go tomorrow and see how it looks.
CptCasey[TK]
Just a word of caution with the snap pliers. I couldn't get the pliers to work with the top snaps. I'm using Tandy brand snaps. The bottoms snaps worked perfect though.
bowski477
So I think my ears turned out better than I thought they would. Too much gap? Not enough gap? I watched ANH last night...for science. I saw some with crazy gaps.
lucnak[TK]
Looks pretty darn good to me! You do have a wee bit of ABS from the face poking out on your left side. Night want to trim that down a hair so it's not visible.
bowski477
Definitely on my to-do list thanks!
bowski477
Well I just took forever to removed the rivets on my helmet. There was a gap between the forehead and the cap that I thought wouldn't be a problem after I put the ears on but I was wrong and it bothered me. So I'm going to fix that up and try again. Kind of a bummer but it's not unsaveable yet.

bowski477
Took a little break from my helmet today to trim and fit my legs. I was worried about my thighs at first but they fit perfect once I trimmed enough.
68Brick[TK]
Your ear gap is fine. trim up the ABS that Lucnak spotted and you're golden. Your legs fit good too. I'd wait for final shin fitting until you get you boots under them.
bowski477
For sure. I'm saving up some money for boots so the shins will wait for those. I have plenty to work on in the meantime. For sanding an polishing ABS sludge patches what should I use?
lucnak[TK]
From what I've seen, sanding from a rough grit down to a fine fine grit and then Novus polish.
bowski477
Do many people disconnect the cod from the abdomen and use strapping? I saw it in Pandatrooper's old build thread. If I don't do that I might need to trim the top of the abdomen.
Trogdor[TK]
I didn't but I have seen several threads that have. I would say to do that before you cut the top of the ab. My thinking is there is molded detail up there you'll lose where as the top of the cod is nondescript. I'd recommend sending a pm to Ukswrath or sly11 especially if your going centurion. bowski477
If I didn't have boobs this wouldn't be as much of an issue. They sort of get in the way of the top of the ab making the cod come down too low. So I'm trying to figure out the best way to fit properly. Trogdor[TK]
That's exactly why I was saying I think the correct way is to seperate the cod and shorten there but verify with the expert as I didn't do it myself.<br><br> You'll get through this. My big issue was thighs and shims.<br><br> I just don't want to give bad advice. Edited September 18, 2016 by Trogdor
bowski477
I figured while I had my helmet apart I'd dip it. Painters tape and a plastic bag on both pieces.
