if you don't mind me asking, how did you get the modeling putty to stick to the bucket? Let me guess, e-6000!

No. It just adhered. This is the stuff

Back to the trimming and prep today. Cover strips all cut out. I will do the arms first. Im intending on trimming and assembling as i go along which will hopefully save my delicate hands from the pain of spending hours on end working with the lexans!

 

Return edges on arms...... zero return at the cuff end. But what about the rest of the biceps back of forearm and bells etc? And to what depth? My last build was an fx kit which had no return edges anywhere so im at a bit of a loss!

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Depending on your size and forearm shape, the return edge portion by the elbow (on the forearms) can have return edge but be cautious of armour bites.

On the biceps same thing - take a look at Tony's ATA build:

Ok, so revisited the lid to fit a chin strap and cut down those deadly ear bolts.

I wanted to do something about the exposed cut down bolts.

 

I went sifting through by "bits and bobs" box when I came across these.

They are small rubber caps which cover those small metal pegs which hold the shelves up on a bookcase. They fit perfectly over the trimmed down bolts.

 

I painted them black and applied a little E6000 to the nut and bolt for security and then fitted them.

A simple job which hides those ugly bolts.

Yeah my kit has no return edges on any of the arm pieces but I am on the "thicker side". I took all the return edge off the shoulder bells hoping to get them as close to the shoulder straps as possible.

I was not convinced that the velcro meathod for holding my fan battery in my lid was secure enough.

 

So I thought I'd have a play and see what I could come up with.

 

I took a couple of 15mm wide lengths and bathed them

Slowly but surely I began to bend them into semi circles.

I then fitted them to another 15mm wide lenghth.

I rounded the corners and did a test fit. They did a good job of clamping the battery, and have enough give and tension that I can just clip the battery in and the hold it well in place.

Heres a shot of it placed in my lid. Its not permanent yet as I need to build up the back with more abs in order to follow the line of the curve in the bucket. I may go with modeling putty to make a level area, but I want to test the durability of the holder first.

When looking at the transmitter I felt it would be too much of a squeeze to get it to fit in the lid. I decided that I was going to rip it apart and see if I could come up with something a little smaller.

Again, I wanted to mount it on something I could install, rather than installing it directly to the lid. I got the pans on again and molded a couple of strips of ABS.

Next, was to crack open the milliput and begin to make the part where the smaller transmitter would be attached.

And the completed transmitter. You can see the difference in size between the two types of housing.

A productive day today. After lots of procrastinating, I thought I would commit the day to some trimming and cutting.

I got more done than I expected to. The thighs are now ready for the front inernal covers to be installed, which will have to wait as all of the magnets and clamps are in use at the moment.

The biceps are now done except for the clean up of any E6000 which may have bled out, along with the final clean up of the return edges and fine sand

The belt has been trimmed, as has the knee ammo belt. The det end caps are at 20mm and just need a fine sand, and the ab button plate has also been trimmed.

Shin covers in place and setting, they've been curing for around 8 hours so I pinched the clamps that were at the tops and bottoms of the strips. Hopefully they will not come free!

 

Biceps have their external strips and all excess e6000 has been removed. Once the weather improves I'll get outside and tidy up those returns. The same can be said for the calves.
