Haribon72’s First Order Stormtrooper (Jakku Chase Scene) – Large Trooper Build

Haribon72’s First Order Stormtrooper (Jakku Chase Scene) – Large Trooper Build

I waited this long to start.  I had to have the blu-ray in hand for great references.   For months, I've seen my garrison and legion friends build, progress, and finish their kits.

Now that spring is here, its time to get this major project started.   I choose this trooper because of the backpack, vest, and blaster set-up.   Somehow I was drawn to it.  I have the Sideshow Jakku Exclusive Sixth Scale figure coming in, so I can't wait to study it.    I know the Heavy Weapons Trooper from Sideshow has some inaccuracies on the vest, but hopefully the Jakku Exclusive will be better.

Thanks guys for the cheers!      Just a little update.   Today, I received Dan's Direct Copy Hand Plates from Germany.    Pictures have been posted above.

Also, I'm learning that an updated CRL for the FO Stormtrooper is in the works.   I'm postponing some of the build for now.

I don't want to go back and redo any of the armor if a Level 2 or Level 3 gets posted on the legion site.      Sorry no progress pictures at this time.

The wife gave me a day off yesterday, so Rick (StarFox2010)  and I were able to hang out get some work done.

I also developed an attack plan for the build.   This is going to be my road map and will be continuous updated.  Its very similar to my classic TK road map.

I start and finish with the center core first, then move to the legs and arms.

Area 1

1. Chest

2. Abs

3. Yoke

4. Back

5. Cod

6. Butt

7. Thermo Det.

8. Belt

9. Suspension system

Area 2

1. Thighs

2. Side Arm Holster

3. Lower legs

4. Boots

Area 3

1. Shoulder Bells

2. Biceps

3. Forearms

4. Gloves

Area 4

1. HW Vest

2. Blaster

3. Backpack

Helmet & Electronics will be done in between build areas.

Tony (UksWarth)'s TFA TK build thread will be our build resource (guide) as well other updated resources including the current CRL.

Chest piece is snugged (test fit only).  I will be sanding the back of the piece to get the desire cut out as done by Tony.

To be continued . . .

Cutting Out the Updated Chest Piece

Here's what I did last night.    It took me about 2.5 hours to carefully hack this piece.   I have never done this before and happy to share what I did.

Some areas I had to be a little crafty with a chisel and hammer.  Take your time and relax.

Drill small pilot holes and chisel away.    I marked the areas with pencil to keep me focused on the shape I want.

I'm using multiple chisels and mini files.

I hacked my mini hack saw to fit into the chest piece.    This made it a lot easier to cut inside.

Sanding the inside with my favorite sand paper (3M Pro Grade Precision - P150 Medium)

Progress look before belt sanding the back.  I'll continue working on it.

I'm going to encourage everyone to work on the chest piece cut out before installing it to the your chest plate.  Its easier to work with.

Some references I used last night.
