Phoenix Props / T5H F-11D build

Recommended Posts

Here we go, my Phoenix Props / T5H build!

First impressions out of the box are that the parts are extremely clean, there are only a few pour spouts to cut off and a small number of bubble areas to fill in.

Paint prep / testing.

Everything got a coat of primer so I could see how it looked. Most of it was ready to go, but I did do some additional filling on the back of the grip and some other small areas.

Then I put down some base paint coats, mostly black (which I really didn’t need to on a few pieces since they are mostly white). I started with a flat black, but will eventually put down a semi-gloss black. I’m using Tamiya paints with my airbrush, which is still somewhat new to me but I like the results so far. You’ll see some SE-44C parts in the mix, since I’m painting both at once.

Unmasked with scope and end cap loosely fit:

And here’s my current status, while I am waiting for some more glossy white to arrive:

Eventually I'll paint over the black areas again with semi gloss.

For the first go at this build, I'm trying to avoid the temptation to add in LEDs and the front flashlight.. but I think later I'll come back to add those.

Looking amazing- mind should be coming soon (I'm part of the 2nd 5 being shipped). Question- what spray paint would you recommend trying as I don't have an air brush. I used krylon fusion on my armor and it worked really well

I would stick with Krylon if that worked well for you on the armor. I'm doing semi gloss black and glossy white. Clear coat on top (matching semi gloss and gloss)

Still not 100% happy with my paint job, but I was in a hurry to get this finished/troopable by this coming weekend for the Run Disney Star Wars race troops!

The kit goes together so easily, very nice!

Any recommendations for the bolts to hold onto holster. I bought some t4 and t5 torx screws for everything else but those seem to be bigger

If you buy the metal holster kit from R2Dan I believe these come with it.

They are different vs the other bolts in that they are a thick flat headed item to properly fit into the grooves.
