EIB and Centurion: What do these terms mean?

Recommended Posts

                                                                 ADVANCED TACTICS info.

So what exactly are EI (Expert Infantry) and Centurion levels?

These programs were designed for those who choose to take their armor above and beyond the minimum requirements for basic 501st Legion approval. It gives you the chance to show a level of dedication and pride that takes your armor closer to being as "screen accurate" as possible, without as much extra work as you may realize. (You may surprise yourself with what you are capable of)!

It also works on giving a better look to the Legion as an entity, and you can bet others will take notice of your hard work. The 501st has a list of detailed requirements for Basic approvalEIB (Level 2) and Centurion (Level 3) which can be found here in the Costume Reference Library, (CRL

http://databank.501s...tuming:FISD_CRL

Here are a few of the questions people may be wondering about:

1. "I am a (tall/short/heavy/thin) trooper. Can I still apply? Of course! These programs are open and encouraged for all sizes of TKs, as long as the costume is correct and meets the guidelines. There are many specific build tutorials to every option, as well as a vast network of fellow TKs on the FISD to help you out and offer suggestions.

2. "How much extra will I have to pay for extra items"? The cost is actually quite reasonable, considering the few extra supplies you will need, which are listed in the requirements area. While it may run you a little more to implement these additions to your costume, they will go a long way to improving accuracy. All needed items can be found for sale on this thread: http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/16-ongoing-sales-project-orders/

Another thread which will be invaluable is Caleb's @MaskedVengeance, located here.

While blasters are not required for Basic 501st approval, for EIB and Centurion levels they are, and may need upgrades (also listed in the CRL).

3. "I haven't even got my kit yet, is it too early to start planning"? Actually, aiming for Centurion is easiest to do right out of the box.

4. "I have my basic TK approval, can I still get in these programs"? In a word... absolutely!

5. "Are there any "perks" to this extra work and cost"? Besides knowing that you have a great looking set of armor, the 501st and FISD believes you should be deservedly recognized for your achievement(s), and allows you to wear the appropriate embroidered "rocker" badge of rank (when available) on your shirt, helmet bag, etc., as well as rank decals to put on your armor bin. You will also have access to select "challenge coin" runs, receive (free) a cool certificate for your new rank, and have your title posted below your name in your FISD signature. Plus, once you reach these levels, you will have the extra knowledge to help out those who are looking to apply as well.

6. "Is it hard to apply, and what happens then"? After Basic approval, all you do is make sure your armor is up to the standards set forth in the appropriate CRL, post a thread with the required photos in the appropriate area (see below), and wait a bit for the D.O.s (Deployment Officers) to address it. (Hint: Studying other people's threads before you submit can be a GREAT help). These are also listed on the main page of the FISD site. While waiting for approval, you will get some comments from others who will offer suggestions and constructive advice to help you out. If you should need any changes, the DOs will let you know, so you can adjust accordingly. Don't be dismayed if you do need changes... it's all for your benefit! After you are approved for EIB, then you can submit for Centurion.

7 "Can I achieve additional awards"? Yes and No, you can achieve extra awards at EIB for each additional version costume approved, this will be shown on the thread title as [APPROVED 2nd], [APPROVED 3rd] and so on and you will receive an extra star for each EIB approval on your profile. NOTE If you are approved with a second version of a particular costume you do not receive an additional certificate, there is only 1 issued for each costume version ie: only 1 Hero, 1 Stunt, 1 HWT, 1 ESB and so on. If you have a second/additional version costume approved you will see "2nd version" and [APPROVED] added to the thread title, no additional profile stars (more info on profile awards here)

For Centurion the award program is a little different, you are only issued the Centurion award once no matter how many additional version costumes you have approved at that level.

EIB http://www.whitearmo...ntryman-status/

Centurion- http://www.whitearmo...nturion-status/

Note: You will see some suggestions in the existing submissions/approval requests by the D.O.s and other Troopers that, while not actually part of the CRL, are highly suggested items to enhance the accuracy of your armor. Note that the D.O Staff does not rely only on the CRL, but screen caps and official references as well. Those small details all add up to make your build look it's absolute best!

Here is a thread that will answer a lot of your CRL questions: https://www.whitearmor.net/forum/topic/48335-quick-crl-reference-guide-for-your-ot-build-pics-notes-tips/

Just remember that the FISD is here to help you every step of the way with whatever other questions you may have, but if you can't seem to find what you are looking for in your research, just post the question, (or PM me if you like) and best of luck on your build!

Thanks for posting this, it'll help a lot of the People receiving new kits.... As an older member, I've been thinking about EIB, but my confidence levels, or courage to take that step on my own is well... Lacking lol. Think it'd help if there was another person close by who could help advise/oversee/mentor... From what I've seen of my armour, and the things required, there's not much to add... Mainly the correct snaps... From there, I may consider Centurion, but with just online help from here, I'm uncertain... And don't wish to crack/destroy the armour...I've already had one suit destroyed in a house move.

This is a great post! I'm already an Executor level Officer and aiming for Imperator. I'm new though as a TK with fresh armor to build from Anovos. I'm definitely aiming for Centurion as I work to put this together!

Hey there Dan!

If you're considering it, I do encourage you to go for it! I realize that we're all different, but FWIW, when I did my armor build, I was two and a half hours from the nearest Legion member. All I had was FISD, and I built it to Centurion standards from the beginning. I'll be happy to assist you however I can (short of getting on a plane to be local) if you decide to go for it, and I'm confident that there are many others here who will be just as - if not more - helpful in any way they can !

Think I may just do this... Have to acquire a few pieces though, mainly correct snaps... From what I've researched, the only things I'm missing for EIB are the two snaps on buttpiece, holster, and a few other very minor modifications. I have acrylic capped ABS and am uncertain as to drilling this... I'm going to look into this more, and get brave I think... Who knows, may even go for Centurion, as there shouldn't be much more to do afterwards... Edited by TK 2759

The shoulders don't have to be canvas straps. They are just white elastic.

I'm fairly certain that you should be fine drilling. It is a TM kit? I know that he uses acrylic capped ABS, and installs the original brackets for the body strapping. That means that he has to drill holes in the return edges for the brackets, and he installs those same snaps so there shouldn't be an issue with drilling through the ABS that I can imagine.

Do your research, that's definitely the key, and don't hesitate to reach out if you've got questions or need help! ;)

I say go for it, Dan! We got your back, sir..

I think I will go for it, very little needs to be done for EIB, some Centurion requirements are already met as well. Just looking up costs, and then giving the run down to the powers that be, to get the ok.

I'm glad that this was posted! I'm seriously thinking about applying for EIB status for HWT. I might have to hold off with TK because of my Blaster, Detonator canister (have to move the clips towards the end caps). The only thing im concerned with (for both TK and HWT) is the ab/kidney space.

Great to hear you are going for HWT EIB, Jonathan! There are a lot of great tutorials about shimming the kidney, and many have made it all the way to Centurion doing this. Does it take some time and effort? Well, yes, but the end result will make both your TK and HWT look MUCH better. Best of luck to ya, and keep me informed of your progress. If I can be of any help, just let me know..

Go Dan, you can do it!

At some point I may want to go for HWT unfortunately I am doing an ESB build so in the long run I may need to get another ANH helmet, robber ANH handguards, pauldron, ammo pouches, and perhaps another holster that is ANH configured.

Just a heads-up, Dave... For HWT, you won't need a holster! If you need connections for the pauldron and ammo packs just PM me.

Funny, I was just trying to figure this out. I've been on a waitlist for a year, and now my RT-Mod kit is shipping. I'll probably nervously stare at the open box for a couple of weeks before digging in. I'd say I'm handy, but not crafty.I can assemble complicated things that I know nothing about (i built my drones from parts) but this is really new.

Is it really dumb to go for EIB or Centurion out of the gate? I don't see me buying another set of armour any time soon, so part of me thinks, if I'm going to do it, I should go all in and go for the highest standard. Then the other part of me thinks that's really naive and that I'll be challenged enough just getting approved to the 501st.

When "Big Brown Box" day comes, Jeff, the best way to ease your fears is to really dig in to the build threads you will find here. In other words, research, research research. Everyone who gets their first kit has apprehensions, but the key is to be informed, which is a main goal of this site. The amount of information to found here is truly staggering, but then again so is the knowledge and help from folks who have your back.

My suggestion is to start your own build thread from day one. Yes, there are a lot of them here, but always room for one more! This will do a couple of things... You can post pictures (highly encouraged), ask questions, (you will get more responses posting them all in one thread), and better keep track of (and show off) your progress.

I agree that you should go for the highest standard right out of the box. Reaching EIB and Centurion does require some commitment, but I promise it is attainable, and we are here to help! The fact that you build drones shows that you have an eye for details, which is what a lot of what these levels are all about, so it may be easier for you.

I would suggest reading through the requirements for both levels, and taking some time to study these areas as well:

http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/19-request-expert-infantryman-status/

http://www.whitearmor.net/forum/forum/72-request-centurion-status/

You should also get involved with your local Garrison/Squad. Many of them hold "armor parties", which are designed to help new folks with their armor at a hands-on level.

Whatever route you choose, know that again, we are here to help. If you have any questions, you are always welcome to PM me if needed. If I can't assist you, I will find someone who will, or steer you in the right direction.

I Must say I find Myself in the same position as some of the others posting here, I have a New ANOVOS Kit with Completed Helmet, I find Myself Apprehensive to even Pull a pair of Cutters Out. I am a Weapons Specialist and Am finding it Mush Easer to Build My E-11 Blasters from Real Sterlings. It is intimidating as the ABS Plastic is Not Metal and ....You have to Think Diagram Measure 5 Times and hopefully Only Cut Once. I will be NOT using the supplied attachment Straps for the ANOVOS Build ...Will be using Nylon Straps as Suggested. So Much Information Available, a little Overwhelming. Always Around and Looking. Can you get replacement parts? This was always the saving grace of fan made kits. If you ever made a boo-boo, you just bought a replacement part.

The pinned post refers to being able to get a certificate for achieving EIB and Centurion status.
The thread to request this is currently locked.
Is there any progress on unlocking it now elections are completed.

Great to hear that you are going for screen accuracy! Unfortunately, the requirements for TD differ from those for TK in a lot of ways. They do not use the terms EIB or Centurion, but instead have MEPD Police and S.W.A.T. programs. More information can be found on their site http://forum.mepd.net/ and the requirements for those levels can be viewed here:

http://forum.mepd.net/index.php?/forum/12-mepd-police-officer-program/

Of course there is always the Heavy Weapons Trooper alternative, (not that I am biased, LOL). We get to carry large weapons, have "weathered" armor and a pack. Plus, you can change back and forth to regular TK if needed.
