Sebastien ANH Stunt build thread [ATA]

Ok, let's start with the forearms

First identify the sides of the pieces

IMG_1950.jpg

And use the dremel to start the cuttings

IMG_1953.jpg

OK, i will check more pictures, but i think i need to trim more the return edge on the wrist side of the forearms

IMG_1954.jpg

IMG_1959.jpg

Does the wrist side really needs to be FLAT (i mean only the 2mm of the ABS) ? It's a little bit scary to sand beside the mold mark...

A little hard to tell from the photo, but if you can feel any rolled edge I would remove it. Also keep in mind that the right fore arm is much bigger than the left when it come to fitting.

I glued the finishing strip on the forearms. I must admit i am really surprised by the amount of force needed to joint both sides together... That's something i didn't expected.

I needed to use high strength clamps and needed to clamp both sides as the glue started to detatch from the other side...

OK, one arm close to finish...

IMG_2003.JPG

IMG_2004.JPG

I am really not satisfied with one of the strips... The force is so high that the glue is not strong enough to keep the shape... I will try to add more glue and see if i can fit it...

Maybe i should have started with the front strip BEFORE the inner strip. A gap on the inner strip causes less problems than a gap on the outer strip.

In the meantime, i start glueing the biceps

And another forearm ready for service :-)

IMG_2009.jpg

I'm still not happy with the gaps on one side

IMG_2010.jpg

I clamped as hard as i can, but it does not seems to be enough

Did you experienced the same ?

Is it a good idea to use white bathroom Silicon to fill the gap or i should forget it ?

Today, i glued the outer cover strips on the biceps

IMG_2024.jpg

No problem on one

IMG_2025.jpg

IMG_2026.jpg

the other one has more problems to fit (as with one of the forearms), so i decided to sand before applying the strip to have a flat surface

IMG_2028.jpg

that makes easier to apply the strip

IMG_2029.jpg

Next step : Trim the shoulder bells

IMG_2035.jpg

and start cutting the shims

IMG_2030.jpg

and gluing, this time starting with the outer strip :

IMG_2036.jpg

next steps tomorrow !

Thank you for your support guys  :)

I'll keep on working on the legs.

I'm so lucky because i realize i was close to a big mistake. ATA gives me 2 long sheets of white ABS and 2 short ones for the strips.

I started cutting the long ones for my arms strips until i realize i can be short with the ABS length for my legs ! I just realize that when i was at the exact size needed for my legs  :laugh1:

Anyway, i glues the front strips on the legs

I need to move for my job, so next update will be this week-end.

Back on the build !

I cut and glued the sniper plate

IMG_2235.jpg

IMG_2237.jpg

I then create the bicep hooks, marked them and use a soldering iron to dig the lines

IMG_2239.jpg

The i used boiling water and a plier to create the hooks

IMG_2240.jpg

I glued them on the biceps

IMG_2244.jpg

IMG_2245.jpg

Next, i glued the elastic strap on the shoulder bell

for the ammo belt around the right leg, i will need to identify the legs. Both legs do not have the same length. Do you know which one is the shortest one (left or right) ?

My guess would be that the shortest one is the one that should receive the ammo belt, but i prefer to be sure  :)

tank you for your help

sorry my question is a nonsense, it's really easy to identify right and left when you put them on the floor :-)

IMG_2254.jpg

Another (more relevant) question. Which of these 2 pictures is the good one ?

Picture A :

IMG_2255.jpg

or Picture B :

IMG_2256.jpg

I don't know which side i should use for the Kidney plate...

Your kidney plate should curve upward at the top...it follows the same curve as your ab. Bottom is flat and it should be flush with your butt plate.

Next round !

I finished the strapping on the arms

IMG_2253.jpg

I then trim the leg ammo belt

IMG_2260.jpg

The split rivets were quite complex to deploy inside the legs, but i finally managed it

IMG_2261.jpg

I then prepared the belt platic

IMG_2270.jpg

and applied the button plates where the strapping is required

IMG_2271.jpg

IMG_2272.jpg

I then prepared the shoulder straps

IMG_2263.jpg

And the nylon shoulder strapping

IMG_2281.jpg

IMG_2282.jpg

Some work on the button plates

IMG_2273.jpg

IMG_2275.jpg

I'm just waiting for the blue paint. I already used the black and grey on my bucket but as i used DaveM decals on the bucket, i forget to order blue paint. I will have to wait for it ...

I also have another question to locate where i should add the button snaps on the AB plate to secure the belt. I checked that schema from Billhag, but i am wondering why the right button (right when you are in the armor, so left on the picture) is 28mm from the relief where the other one is 59mm ? Why do we don't centered them ?

I prepared some nylon strapping for the AB chest plate

IMG_2295.jpg

Using a soldering iron and a piece of abs as a guidance, i drill holes inside the nylon

IMG_2296.jpg

and then fixed the snaps

IMG_2294.jpg

I prepared some double button plates

IMG_2285.jpg

and fixed them on the AB plate and kidney plate

IMG_2287.jpg

End result :
