OK perfect. Thanks Tony!

Mine are virtually hidden under the trim unless you look at the right angle. Most of the screen references I've seen, the bottom screw looks to be around 0.25"-0.5" from the trim. So now that I've got the trim back on I was questioning whether I've got them placed wrong.

Thank you for the detailed and invaluable build post btw, you are a master!! :salute:

The left ear is a bit off center but not too bad. Just a reminder if you choose to shoot for the higher levels they'll need to be replaced with the correct type.

Thanks for the kind words Greg, THT

Yeah, I didn't even notice that the left one is off center until I posted that pic. Debating whether I want to drill again. If I do, I may put the holes a bit higher so they actually are above the trim.

You can't tell in the pic but I did actually replace the screws, I just wanted to verify I had the right ones

Oh yeah I agree. I would probably fill them with ABS paste if I did.

Awesome thread, really helpful reference, I particularly like the links to each subheading, saves me trawling thru 50+ pages when I'm looking for info on a particular step.

Great question, take a look in the "For Sale" or "Ongoing Sales" sections, maybe someone has a kit available. You can check Trooperbay.com also

That was going to be my next question hahaha. They have a set minus snaps. Also I have been talking with Alay on here. She has what looks like a really nice set on her Etsy.

4d. Ab & Kidney Split Rivet Pre-assembly

In this section I'll be preparing the left side Ab to Kidney split rivet assembly

Here's a look at some screen used armor

gallery_12157_16_598.jpg

Starting off with the Ab side.

Split rivet placement. Though there's been some debate as to where exactly the rivets measure from the top and bottom, the agreed distance they are from the ab to kidney side return edges is 10mm.

In this build I'll be starting the first hole at the top of the Ab. It will be placed 20mm from the top and 10mm from the side...

I wanted to ask, since I understand you've built armor for different sized people, and I'm just trying to get a consensus of the best route for me to take on the ab and kidney fit.

I'm a thin guy, 5'9" with about a 30" waist, so as of now the ab and kidney are pretty wide on me. I've seen some build threads (i.e. Cricket and Sha Sha's build threads) where they trim down the ab, kidney and posterior to get a proper fit. I've had a few others suggest leaving it alone and just filling things in with padding to keep them from moving around. (I'm not discounting anyone's advice, I just want to hear multiple opinions before I proceed)

I just wanted to get your professional opinion as well. Here's how they fit currently.

I would start by removing some of the Ab, maybe back to the first bend. Start with the right side first. Then the left if need be.

Left side (last)

Oh! Alright, thank you!

So if I trim them on the vertical, do I need to worry about cracking on the kidney return edge when I'm cinching the pieces together with the belt? Because I notice if I overlap them now to try and get a more form fitting shape, I'm getting warping/bending at two spots (4 and 8 o'clock positions) on the kidney top and bottom return edges.

And would that be as far as you would trim? and just pad the inside from there?

You don't need to since the belt down so tight that it causes areas to warp, just enough to close the two sections. This armor is so thin you'll get warping is certain areas but it should flex back.  The key is for the armor to float on your body so that you're comfortable. Trust me when I say most people wish they had your problem lol

Hey Ukswrath! I love your build and the final photos look amazing. I am right now working on my build and I have been having some difficulties with a couple parts. I have a thread for my build here

If you ever get the chance to look it over, mostly my last 3 post I would really appreciate some feedback and help. If you need me to be more specific versus going to my thread I do not mind at all.

Thank you!
