Done the same, when testfitting.

 

Both are on, right? If not, use a stick or something woody to bash it out from the open side.

I hold the TD horizontal, and kept pressure on the edge of the cap - leaning on a bookshelf.

Do this all around the cap, and it will come off.

What you've there is a suction problem. Drill a hole in the TD under the control panel. If you haven't already glued it down.

I put the air hole under the metal strip.  so plan your location for the strips,  when you drill a hole it will allow the caps to come off.

Put the TD in a plastic bag and blow some air from a compressor on low pressure into the hole.

I didn't use a bag or low pressure and mine bounced around the garage.
