Turning a toy into armor!

I'm looking for it too but I can't find here in the EU...
Where do it comes from?

I bought it on Amazon for about $25. Repainted all the black areas on the helmet. I had some extra dark green lenses material from my TK build and added it to the helmet. I also screwed the two pieces together and added some padding inside. And, added black mesh over the mouth holes.

I saw the 48" TFA trooper last year at Walmart with my 42" son and said. "Hey you could fit into that." Immediately I knew what he was going to be for Halloween this year. During that time another father beat me to the punch and posted his build on YouTube. There's also a thread dedicated to the conversion on whitearmor.net.

We got a small sale today and since they're starting to thin out, we jumped on it. My son is only 42" as of this post so we can easily get two years, maybe even three out of it. That helps justify the cost a bit. Plus I can probably sell it for a profit down the road when he outgrows it.

Here's the before......
I've found that a 1/4" wood chisel works great at taking out all the interior ribs. Dremels just melt the plastic and make a huge mess. If I were to build another one I would just use a utility knife and my wood chisel. No matter what you use, it's a ton of work.

When using the chisel, I worked the blade flipped upside down. Using it the correct way it tended to bite a bit too much and make gouges. Flipped it was easier to manage and control.

Nice, just threw it on top of a lamp? I'm picking up the same project, started printing a replacement grip for the blaster. Wish I had a brighter white, but it'll do.

Any chance to have the grip 3D file shared?

Two troops so far and still holding together. Definitely a work in progress though.

Nice! What shoes did you have him wear? I ended up buying lace-up faux-patent leather boots that I got off eBay for my son. I had to cut off the tops of the boots though so it'll fit into the calves pieces.

Those are cut down rubber rain boots painted white. They worked for one outing, but the paint was coming off by the end. I have since picked up a pair of girls boots at a thrift store, cut them down to instep length and painted white.

Looks great!

I've just begun strapping the one I'm working on for my four year old. Anyone reading this, don't underestimate the amount of work that doing this really is. It is substantial. LoL.

Great work!!
