My Build thread =0

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I'm starting a build thread. I wanted to start one a month ago but I've been having problems posting photos on here, my phone takes too large of photos apparently. So let's see if this works.

<a href="http://s264.photobucket.com/user/yoshix/media/Mobile%20Uploads/puppe.png.html"target="_blank"><img src="http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii165/yoshix/Mobile%20Uploads/puppe.png" border="0" alt=" photo puppe.png"/></a>

If not I'll have to try something else.

I died the MP40 pouches black. I really shouldn't have done it on the stove because the hot water really destroyed the straps. I'll have to replace then

I bought a second helmet for a few reasons.

I thought my kit would take forever to get here and I wanted something to start on in the meantime. ATA said he could ship the helmet right away.

I wanted to make two different helmets. And or to switch out parts that I liked or didn't like. Or if I F- something up I can replace (which of course ended up happening )

I painted the teeth with primer grey. I thought this would be too dark but it seemed all the alternatives at Home Depot are too light. After a day or so the dark really grow on me and I decided to keep it.

I wanted to take some pictures before I painted and weathered. At the point this photo was taken I had about everything put together and sanded the shine off. Please excuse the pulse rifle, I don't have a blaster and I'm not sure if I'm going to order one. I've been looking into building the plasma flamethrower but I'm having trouble tracking down reference photos.

I have already trimmed some spots since this was taken and done some painting.

After a few days debating back and forth with myself I decided to cut this off. I really didn't want to but in all the screen shots I looked at it seemed to be more accurate.

The red paint is a little hard to work with. If you smear it, it wants to stain armor pink. I bought some mineral spirits today, which helps but it'll take more sanding to get the desired effect. I hope with the mat finish spray it will lock it all in.

I assume that rubber trim isn't going to want to hold paint at all so I went ahead and primed it hoping for the best

Pauldron is now red! I'm not the best in sewing but I think it will do just fine.

Vocoder is painted

Way to much weathering. My goal was to try to remain accurate to the game photos but not go overboard with it.

Just right!

Ok, I'm open to any constructive criticism anyone may have. Please keep in mind I still have some small tweaking to do.

I think it looks great. I had my doubts seeing the masking but it turned out well. The only thing I would personally do is fade the edges a little with either a fine sand paper or a scotch pad. Just so it doesn't look too masked and painted.

Saying that I don't have any reference to compare to of the game in which case you may well have nailed it. :duim:

Thanks for the kind words and the advice. I wasn't able to work on it this weekend but I'm hoping that next weekend I'll have my application photos ready.

After a weekend out of town I finally got to work on this again. I added some foam in the arms and legs to try to push them away from my body is certain places. I also noticed that my ab plate was sitting a little low so I raised that up a bit. Photos to come.

I used the sticky industrial Velcro to hold the MP40 pouches to my shoulder. I didn't think it would stick very well to the fabric pouches but it's seems to work. We'll see how long it holds up.

So messed this up big time. I didn't know what 4mm would look like so I went over and Google inch to mm, it gave me .15somethingsomething. In my head I'm like "well, .15 is about 1/16" WRONG! I felt like an idiot. I was so upset. I should have asked my wife beforehand, she's European. So now I need a good tutorial on plugging holes. If anyone has one please let me know. I don't think I can just fill it with E6000 and sand and paint over it. Maybe plastic weld?

Hi there,

Its so nice to see another Incinerator taking shape. Its looking great! Looking at your photos gave me an idea. Your boots are way more ash laden than mine, which makes sense if we are laying waste left right and centre. I need to dirty mine up more - they are too polite.

Good luck with the Plasma rifle.

Thanks Larry!

I'm glad you like the idea with the legs. I know it's not really in the screen shots but I think it's such a cool little detail. I actually stole the concept from a clone trooper I saw somewhere.

This is what I originally had. Three stripes of Velcro hold the ab and kidney plate together. I know that in the end your eyes will melt all the black together next to the white, but if someone looked really closely they'd see the velcro and I just can't have that. So I came up with this

I think it's really cool!
