Looking good. I was already over-engineering this very modification in my head, so I'm very happy to see what you've done here. ;)

Chest Accuracy Update cont...

 

Filling seem gaps at the upper and lower return edges.

 

When cutting the chest into sections gaps are created at he upper and lower chest return edges. These gaps will need to be filled in.

It will need to be flush with the out return edges as well as with the base section of the new created valley

This area will be prone to high stress so I'll be using plastic welder to connect and build up the area.

Good lord Tony, your thread is kicking some serious FN butt! (...and making my build thread look like the Walmart version. hahaha)

 

LMAO! well I didn't start this build saying to myself "gee I can't wait to do accuracy modifications". I'm not blaming anyone but myself but it's definitely not for those who have any fear of modifying plastic  :blink:

HAHAHA! I hear ya. If given the chance again, I would do some of the modifications for sure. However, it's not the fear of modifying plastic on my current kit so much as the extreme dislike of having to sand down & re-paint things!! ;) I am done with rattle cans.....

Yea I'm passing on the rattle can option all together, too many concerns.

Using some 220 grit sandpaper, fine turn the return edge areas and scuff up valley floor prior to primer.

Remove gloss from ABS Scotchbright (grey) or similar. Necessary for primer adhesion.

Shin Accuracy Update

 

Measure and mark ankle pill to be cut

Cut out large Pill near ankle 

 

Using a Dremel or other remove the center section according to movie accuracy. Material will be installed behind the opening at a later date.

Holster Accuracy Update

 

Install holster kit

 

Verify all kit components are accounted for. Items and item locations are color coded

Tools:

 

Drill

Exacto knife

Drill bits

Torx Security Bit Set and Driver

Starting with the small screws illustrated in red (small post). Drill 1/16" holes the length of the screws. 

 

NOTE: The holes should be the next size smaller then the screw.

Test. You'll need the Torx tool to install the screws.

Remove screws.

 

Follow up (drill) existing hole by using a 9/32" drill to counter sink (3/16" deep) the holes. This will ensure you can flush mount the screws.

Test fit again.

Cut off the greeblie bearing indicated in yellow.

Once removed, center and drill a 1/16" hole the length of the screw.

Machine screws and holes are illustrated in blue & green. I will not be using my screws to mount the holster greeblie to the thigh step so I'll be cutting the length.

Using a 9/32" bit drill the machine screws holes. After the initial drilling counter sink the hole using a 3/8" drill bit. NOTE: you may have to do some additional countersinking using a exacto knife.

Final touches...

 

If you're really adventurous take a 1/2" x 3/8" router bit and router (or Dremel and plastic cutter) and cut the holes like so to make your holster functional.

Ready to glue the holster to the thigh mount.

question is this a seemless build like the clone troopers were, or are the joints visible???

 

nice work and will soon be starting my build.

Yes and no.

 

Biceps have one seam

Thighs have two seams

Shins have 2 seams

Gauntlets have no seams on the sides

 

Some seams are bondoed, others are supposed to be visible...and more defined.
