TK-Commander build off ANH Armor?

Recommended Posts

i want to build a TK Commander but all I have is ANH armor. So my thought is to just convert the ANH armor into ROTJ armor. Is the "trim" the only thing different? I can probably order the shoulder bells separately (I hope). Other than that it looks like the forearms, quads and shins are all the same between ANH and ROTJ?

I have an ANH bucket, hand guards, belt, thermal and those look like they would work for the TK Commander.

Thanks for any advice.

The ROTJ version of armor is assembled by joining the parts in an overlap fashion much different than the basic ANH style of

butt joining the parts.

  • Overlaps at all joins on arms and legs
  • one piece kidney and butt plate.
  • U shaped white trim on torso parts
  • 5 button panel on abdomen instead of 4
  • Different Thermal Detonator design

That is the basic rundown for the TKC

I should note I have an ANH kit so building it with overlapping joints should not be a problem.

As for the thermal detonator. The CRL in the main 501st page shows ANH for first level approval and ROTJ version for 3rd level approval. Is this accurate?

My hope is that since it's a kit I can build it to have the correct overlapping ROTJ style joints

But yes all I'm going for is level 1 approval.

I plan on getting:

- Trim to convert the ANH torso into ROTJ

- 2 shoulder Bells (because from what I read the shoulders are also very different)

- ROTJ build instructions
