You can cut it off but make sure it doesn't make it too short. Since it floats, wait to do this til the end to see how they look. If it's gonna make them too short, leave them. I'm almost finished and with the tabs attached they pretty much touch the big square on the back plate. I'll definitely cut those bad boys off. Thanks for the help!
