Storing/Transporting/Securing of your armor hints?

Recommended Posts

Your kit is precious to you.

You have spent many hours of research, obtaining pieces, assembling,

and polishing to make your kit your own.

Now

1.How do you store your gear?

clean old socks for the smaller pieces and a old thin blanket?

hand made fleece sacks?

packing wrap and bubble wrap?

and for your helmet?

bubble wrap and a cardboard box?

a military helmet bag?

bubble wrapped

2. What do you store your gear in?

Plastic trunk?

Plywood with metal top trunk?

military grade footlocker?

Wooden boxes?

3.What have you wish you had NEVER stored your gear in?

read "Do Not Store your gear in..."

4.

How do you secure it when going trooping?

A trusted person must stay with your stuff/personal effects the whole time

In the trunk of my car with the car alarm on!

padlocked in fellow trooper's car trunk.

chain and padlock/key lock in clear sight at ALL times

motion sensor tossed in with your gear?

or perhaps...

:0Lighten: a rabid tasmainian devil with key fob enabled shock collar

(of which you have the only fob!) :sith:

My hubby had to guard the costumes/sabers and my son's full kit the entire time from a couple of per"SITH"tent 12 year olds.

They even tried to check out the empty bags and cases in the changing room! :Laser: Grrrrrrrr!

but because of it I thought of a funny.

It wasn't courisity that killed the cat...

it twas a :trooper: cause the cat was trying to mess with his kit!

I use a large plastic storage box. If packed right, can hold everything in it. Head out to Wally World and snag one... If not there, try a home improvement store.

My Scout rig is in one and so is my Vader, and my Gaurd... Sheesh. I have four!

I store and transport my gear in a large rubbermaid with wheels. The best thing to protect is an inexpensive ($15-$20) motorcycle helmet bag.

If you want to wrap each piece of gear to protect it use something that breaths so the sweat can dissipate. One of the best ideas I've seen is old pillow cases, and they are usually free :D .

TK 9323 has the most compact method for transporting armor. I like his setup a lot except you must disassemble the entire suit. His setup is great for air travel. He bought some type of black travel case at Walmart but I don't know what its called. I like to be able to leave my main body armor all assembled so I just have to pull it out of the bin and put it on. I can say from the troopers I've seen so far, not a lot of kid glove care with the armor, except for helmets.

I just toss all my armour inc sound system boots firearm in this tub and carry helmet seperately. The only time my armour has seen bubble wrap was when it was shipped to me :duim:

I use smaller size tubs w/ handles from Walmart for my biker and jedi:

I still have a large tub for my TK. The wheels broke and I don't need as much space as I have, but when going solely TK it's nice to have the extra room to throw in various stuff I want to bring with me (cameras, extra blaster, toys or giveaways, etc...). I bungee cord it to a small, collapsable handtruck and it works out fine.

For my bucket I have a custom made case from another Legion member. It is a really nice product, with my TK ID and Garrison Patch, plus the 501st patch. Having the larger tub it fits right in there with the armor.

Who make the bucket Bag?

Trent from the 501st. He did an awesome job and I love the product. You'd have to reach out for him, he just finished a run and is taking a break to catch up, but he seems to offer these on a regular basis...

Thanks Terry

No problem Steve. He does bags for clones, TKs and bikers, I think he was also creating a pattern for a Vader and clones with goggles. IMO it's a really nice custom bag, he includes the 501st patch and ID embroidering, and if you send him a Garrison patch (if you are in one) he'll attach it for free B)
